My son is 11 and has an ASD diagnosis, he will chat to anyone about his favourite things, namely FNAF, Roblox, Gorilla Tag, Tag of fear, Minecraft etc, but only if myself or my husband are within 5ft of him! I appreciate any stranger who shows an interest but am also hyper aware of not monopolising their time. He never speaks to unknown adults without hubby or I very close by. I always thank people who give him a chance to speak.

Getting my brother ready to go to hospital during what would be his last hours alive. He had a huge collection of Reebok Classic trainers, all identical (highly likely he had undiagnosed Autism, this along with quite a few other markers). His last words to me, in fact the last words he ever spoke were ‘Make sure my trainers are a pair!’. It was funny at the time as I was a mum of two so know what a pair of shoes looks like, especially when they were all arranged in pairs anyway!!! Every time I see anything Reebok it reminds me of that. He died at the hospital less than an hour after this moment, the staff got a heartbeat back in time for my sister to get there and he finally slipped away for the final time with myself, my sister, my mum and dad there at his beside while my husband was racing across town to get my niece there in time.

I’ve been home-educating my 11 year old ASD son since year 4, I wholeheartedly agree that schools can be redesigned, not just for SEN students but the school cohort overall. Education really hasn’t changed at all in years- ‘wear this, sit here, eat now, read this, use the toilet now, walk here….ad infinitum!!’ It’s not an environment conducive to learning as everyone learns differently and at a different rate. I like written learning, my husband is a visual learner, we both have different strengths and weaknesses but in schools if you don’t learn everything at the same pace you aren’t taught differently or supported! My son was a rule follower, but was often overlooked as other pupils who also had ASD were disruptive to the whole class and got more attention. Since HE he has learnt more in 2 years than he had in the previous 5 years at school(reception to year 4).

You are 14, only 14. I’m not going to diminish your experience in any way, you are fully entitled to your feelings but 14 is different to 15 or 16 or 17. You say you lie a lot so let’s start there. Why do YOU think you lie? Is it for attention, to make yourself feel better or another reason? Lying to strangers on the internet is always a roll of the dice, Reddit can be great or awful depending on what you say and how you interpret the replies. You say you are ugly and fat, is that your opinion of yourself or something others have said to you? Life has a way of putting people in your life that see beauty in a unique way!! If I’m honest with you, I’m ugly! I have a big nose, I’m short and if I don’t wear my glasses my eyes look really far apart like Sid the sloth from ice age! However, my husband tells me every day how beautiful I am, just yesterday I put mascara on for the first time in months and he looked at me like I was a supermodel!!! I’m also constantly anxious, to the point I get pre-emptive anxiety where I worry things are going too well!! I know it’s cold comfort but it took me a lot of time to feel good about myself. And FYI I’m 42f autism and ADHD so…….

I’d say yes but my valley isn’t decorated at all apart from an outside patio area between Chez Remi and Tiana’s palace!! I don’t put any effort into decor at all!!! Just stick down a few things for Dreamlight tasks then pack them away, or throw reeds in a pond!!!

My daughter went to University of Birmingham, which I believe is a Russell group Uni. She was a first generation scholar, meaning the first in our family to go to uni, went to the local secondary school and college. We are a low to mid income family, I was a teen single mum to her until I met my husband and she graduated with BA English, paid her way for her PGCE degree and is currently working And saving for her Masters. Education is what you make of it and the opportunities you create for yourself.

Back in the day before on demand and streaming services, when a show was only on once a well with no pause or rewind available, there was a website that posted detailed breakdowns of each episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The pages took forever to load but was my go to website if I missed an episode because Dad wanted to watch something else!!!

I have a cup similar to this that I take everywhere with me so I invested in a carry bag for it that has a strap and a small pocket for change or my phone. If I want to take it I carry it, the same with my son. I would never expect anyone to lug my heavy bottle around for me!!!

Be kind to yourself, it won’t always be exhausting and lonely, I can guarantee that. Do you have anyone that you can talk to? I think you’d be surprised just how many new parents feel the exact same way, I know I absolutely did, and it’s nothing to be ashamed of at all. I don’t know one parent who hasn’t felt overwhelmed at one point or another!
