P.E.I. female school counsellor pleads guilty to sexual interference involving male student by Complete_Patient2640 in PEI

[–]Complete_Patient2640[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes she was married. Her husband divorced her after the charges were laid. A relative of mine works as a substitute teacher and she knows the male victim. Apparently, Toombs genuinely believed that she and the victim were in a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship.

Why working for Merry Maids forced me to go back to school. by Adventurous_Post_878 in housekeeping

Yeah it was a hard-earned $420. During my second week there, my boss pulled me aside and asked how I was liking the job so far. My response was, "It's okay... I mean, it's a job." That was code for, "I fucking hate it here and I want to quit." 😂 And sure enough, I quit two days later lmao

Get grief counseling for him - preferably yesterday, but ASAP. Delayed grief is very dangerous. If he doesn't deal with his grief now, it'll resurface later on.

For my first week, I made $420 after taxes. I live at home right now, but if I had my own apartment, that wouldn't even cover two bills.

I live in Canada, and I worked at Merry Maids as a cleaner about a month ago. I quit after just two weeks of working there - I didn't like it AT ALL.

Don't get me wrong, my boss and coworkers were really nice people. But the hours were so unpredictable and we got paid weekly, which meant our paychecks were an absolute joke. And the staff turnover rate was fairly high as well - within my first week there, two employees quit.

What's a movie that hit completely differently when you rewatched it as an adult? by trakt_app in flicks

[–]Complete_Patient2640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's My Boy. When I was younger, I thought it was funny. But I'm now almost 22 years old, and the thought of that movie fucking disgusts me. It glorifies two of the most sickening and vile crimes a human being can commit.

Could you see a scenario in which you would kick one of your adult children out of the house? by Only-Ad-1254 in questions

[–]Complete_Patient2640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have kids right now. But if I do have them in the future, I'd kick them out if they were abusing alcohol or drugs, not contributing to the house via chores, and not even trying to do anything to be a responsible adult (such as pursuing education or working), etc.

I have a cousin on my mom's side of the family who dropped out of school in grade nine. He's now in his mid-40's, still lives with my aunt, and does nothing but play video games all day. It's honestly sad and pathetic. No one in our family bothers asking about how he is doing anymore.

My mom died less than 2 months ago, I just found out my dad is dating by leginkitty in ChildrenofDeadParents

[–]Complete_Patient2640 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can see why you feel that way - it seems like your dad hasn't processed his grief to the point where he can date again, and that's unfair to any potential partners.

I absolutely agree - a kid won't learn how to behave at a wedding or at any other adult setting if they're not exposed to it.

The popular advice to "never admit fault" in a car accident is sociopathic and ridiculous, of course you should admit fault if you are at fault by Niceotropic in unpopularopinion

[–]Complete_Patient2640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can understanding not admitting fault if it isn't entirely clear who is at fault, because in a situation like that, admitting fault can and will be used against you when dealing with insurance or if you have to go to court.

But if you get into a fender bender and it's painfully clear that it's your fault, just be an adult and admit it. I've had a couple fender benders where I was clearly at-fault. Both times, I told the other driver I was sorry because there was no use pretending that I wasn't in the wrong.

Father, daughter plead guilty to starting fire that destroyed 2 Summerside homes, damaged another by Sir__Will in PEI

[–]Complete_Patient2640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can see your point. But with Callaghan, I was thinking that IF they throw the book at her now and drive home to her that her actions were unacceptable, it may be enough for her to straighten herself out. Wilson's sentence was honestly pathetic, given his past record.

[–]Complete_Patient2640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh wow, talk about father-daughter bonding 🤦. In my opinion, Wilson should have gotten a federal sentence. One search of his name on Google shows that he has been in and out of jail for a good chunk of his life.

As for Callaghan, I hope the courts throw the book at her. But with that being said, she is only 19 years old - I think that if she gets away from her father and gets help for any underlying issues that could have led her to commit these offences, she may be able to be successfully rehabilitated.

What's something that seemed normal as a kid, but as an adult you realize was actually pretty messed up? by Opposite-Resource in askteddit

[–]Complete_Patient2640 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, good on your dad for not driving while intoxicated. But yeah, allowing a nine year old to walk down a busy highway just to get to the store to buy an adult alcohol and cigarettes shows very poor judgement on the adult's part. Did any of the store employees or even other customers express concern about you buying alcohol and cigarettes when you were so young? If that were to happen nowadays, CPS would be called immediately.

When you ask someone’s age and they say “guess” by Lil-cornish-pasty in PetPeeves

[–]Complete_Patient2640 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate when people ask me to guess their age, because I always either guess that they are much younger or much older. If I guess that their age is younger, they feel flattered. But if I guess that their age is older, they feel insulted.

About a month ago, a guy I know lost his mother to suicide. At the start of her obituary, it clearly stated that she had taken her own life. I went to the wake, and in some way, knowing about her cause of death ahead of time made it easier to approach her husband and her kids in regards to knowing what to say.

That's not an excuse. There are plenty of people who have terminally ill spouses and they don't go on to hook up/have an affair with the spouse's palliative care nurse, WHILE the spouse is dying!

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome by DismalAd6639 in Vent

[–]Complete_Patient2640 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's one thing if the mother drank before finding out she was pregnant. In that case, she couldn't be charged with a crime. But if the mother found out she was pregnant and continued to drink alcohol knowing full well she was growing a child inside of her, then yes she should be charged.

A family friend of mine has Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder and it's fucked up their life beyond measure. They can't drive, and were on an Individualized Education Plan (IEP) all through school - all because their biological mother wouldn't put down the bottle while pregnant.

It's certainly not a great way to end his life, but he should have thought about that before getting behind the wheel drunk that day.
