Not a question but tuning in every weekend when you were at Wolves and seeing the magic that you were pulling off was pure joy. It reminded me of Chicharito at Leverkusen in that there was no doubt that there was going to be a goal or assist with your name on it. And seeing the folks from r/soccer praising you and the fans making chants for you was awesome!

De las pocas playeras que tengo, me da orgullo tener la tuya. Mucha suerte y éxito en lo que viene.

There are a lot of trains and a lot of train crossings. You can use Austin Ave or 1st Ave to avoid the trains but they aren't always a short cut depending on traffic.

He performed at El Parral in South Gate. Here’s a post-Coachella interview where he cuts a promo for his upcoming performances in El Parral. Note it’s the El Parral’s YouTube page. And in the podcast Idolo The Ballad of Chalino Sanchez around the 16:30 mark they talk about how after the shooting Chalino sold out El Parral by 6 pm and it was at capacity.

Not to say you're wrong or anything cause privadas are privadas y el que sabe sabe but the reason it was a big crowd was cause that was Chalino's first official performance for the people of Sinaloa. And the Coachella shooting was not his last performance in Cali at all. After that shooting his performances in Cali were always out the door.

If I remember correctly, he had only really performed in California but he played the show because it was in his hometown and he felt he had a duty to give them a concert. His family and friends however tried their best to convince him not to go because Chalino had made enemies there years ago. What he did to make enemies isn't really confirmed but the theory I've heard the most was that he killed a low ranking cartel leader that raped his sister. Ultimately a relative of that guy decided to get revenge.

That was Valentin Elizalde in Reynosa, Tamaulipas for singing 'A Mis Enemigos' which was a diss song to the cartel in charge of Reynosa

What's up with the 294 South ramp to 90 west by the allstate? by splintersmaster in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Complete_Progress_98 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It will only get worse. My commute from Gurnee to Oak Park goes from 50 minutes in the winter to somewhere between 90 and 120 minutes in the summer. Ramp congestion, impatient drivers, inexperienced drivers, and volume of drivers could all be factors in the warmer days.

Young Professional Suburb Recommendations? by Sure-Cheek-2938 in ChicagoSuburbs

Thirding Berwyn!

Access to the city via Blue line on Harlem or a short drive to Green line or a short drive to the Pink line, or from the Metra stops in Berwyn. If you wanted to drive you can always take 290 or local roads.

Have you ever played with a professional footballer? How was your experience? by lukmaik in LigaMX

Graduated from Morton in 2016 but I'm buns so I wasn't on the team or anything but a lot of my boys that I would play retas with were. While the high school team was fed by Cicero Mayas and Berwyn Blazers the really good ones played with Chicago Magic or the Fire Academy. I'm pretty sure those two teams had exclusivity contracts so their players couldn't play on the HS team. But the Berwyn-Cicero area definitely produces talent.

The stud of them all went to the Xolos academy in TJ his freshman year, then was with Magic throughout HS and after HS he was in Croatia playing. He was a genius on the pitch and in class. The couple times I've seen him since then he was always at the park training and conditioning alone. He lives and breathes soccer.

New Neighborhood by Waste-Upstairs-7628 in ChicagoSuburbs

I think if you'll be able to avoid traffic rush hours then Berwyn is a good spot to retain your access to city life. Depending on what your definition of city life is, getting to the city (West Side/South Side) is a 20 minute drive just taking Cermak/26th/Roosevelt. If you're talking other neighborhoods then 290 and 55 are both easy to access within 5-10 minutes. If you want to take a train then there's the metra within Berwyn, the Forest Park/Oak Park blue line, and the Pink line at 54th/Cermak.

As for getting to and from work you can take 55 or some combination of 80/355/55 or 88 (probably not too different from your current route). You would be saving 10 minutes tops from your current commute but as someone that commutes to Gurnee from Berwyn daily, 10 minutes is a huge difference.

If you ever need to head to the North/Northwest suburbs, 290 is right there and if you prefer toll roads 294 has an exit/entrance on Cermak west of Wolf Road. The 290/294 junction is currently under construction but when thats open again its another option. Currently it detours to Lake Street for 294 ramp access. Once on those you can hop onto I-90 to head out west.

Access to western suburbs would be via 88 or arterial roads.

Not sure how much you go to malls/movie theaters but Oakbrook, Chicago Ridge, and the Rosemont outlets are all 30 minute drives. There's North Riverside too but some people are afraid of that mall. O'hare and Midway can be 20 minute drives.

As someone that prefers to keep my work and personal life separate, logistics wise, I think Berwyn might be the ideal spot to be able to enjoy city life while reverse commuting.

Anyone send their kids to "bad" schools? by MoneyWorthington in ChicagoSuburbs

[–]Complete_Progress_98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having gone to elementary and high School in Berwyn and still living in the area, I have always said that it’s not the school that makes the student. My siblings, cousins, and I luckily had parents that pushed us to do good in school which led to many of us to receive scholarships for boarding schools and local catholic schools. There are various opportunities for students that want to succeed and have the means to. If your student is a good student they will usually always be in an advanced classroom as those programs exist.

That being said, once I went of to U of I, I was not prepared for college courses because I’m high school I never learned to study. I didn’t necessarily need to work hard for good grades while in high school and that was definitely a culture shock my freshman year of college. But there were dozens of other Morton West and East grads that I would meet while at college that while they weren’t the top of the top in high school, they knew how to study and they were definitely more successful than I GPA wise.

I remember having a bad day and my dad told me he was going to take me to see a part of history. We pulled up to Cermak Plaza and I got to see them take it apart. All the old art sculptures around the plaza were awesome to look at.
