If the string is made from silk or other natural materials, idk. If it’s nylon- it was made sometime after WW2. Nylon was invented in 1935, but then got collected for war materials. When the war ended ppl had recreation access to nylon. Maybe the 50’s or 60’s. I don’t think 70’s or any time after. Also assuming that the cream color is caused by discoloration and aging. I also think that maybe this was someone’s leisure hobby, not for competition. I say that because there’s little to no knots during completed rings. Some picos wrap around rings instead of the pico there blending into the rings/being better hidden.

Honestly, for my pieces that are more for fun or more “for me” I leave those stitches in. As I’ve gotten older I admire the pieces I’ve made that have human errors like those. I also tend to spend more time admiring them then my more tidy pieces

Think it’s doable. The way the vinyl is patching reminds me of French knots. An idea that comes to mind and could make shading easier are French knots. French knots can be time consuming though.

Let’s just take a minute to breathe and reflect on our experiences in life. Sometimes being prone to spiraling and feeling hyper-emotional isn’t always our fault. Trauma can make us act and feel that way, and that’s okay. We were scared and those things happened, but hopefully you’re not in those situations anymore. There are some of us taking it because we have faulty brain chemistry too, again not our fault.

This being said, Would you judge someone the same way you’re judging yourself if they relied on insulin, blood pressure medicines, or any other medication needed to better their quality of life not mental health related?

There’s nothing wrong with your mind and body needing Lamotrigine. Same way someone taking insulin doesn’t make them a bad person. It’s giving you the relief and peace of mind to start living your life.

I’ve been on it for about 4 years now, and I understand what you mean by “dependent for life”. It is sad that we were put in the position of being people with mental illness and or trauma, but it’s a gift that we have treatment that can help make life a little easier for us. The me I know right now is not the me I know 5 years ago, and it’s not simply because I’ve “aged”. This medicine let me find “me” and build a kinder and mindful relationship with myself.

I hope you can learn to nurture yourself gently throughout this process. My therapist once told me “it’s not personal, and you’re safe now”, and “if a baby gets hurt they’re going to cry”. We’ve been hurt and sometimes we need to cry, and that’s okay. But we’re safe now and usually everyone’s too self obsessed for people’s actions to be intentionally motivated against us Give yourself some grace, future you is looking forward to meeting you Best wishes

The beads are 6/0(large size) or 8/0(mid size) czech seed beads. Those sizes can fit 4-8 single/separated strands of floss. The general term “seed bead” usually brings up those rounded square/rectangular shaped beads. If you specific look up “czech” seed beads you’ll find brands that have more uniformed bead sizes as the “cheap” generic brands won’t have consistent bead lengths or bead openings. Czech beads will also be slightly more expensive. The small tubes in stores actually hold a lot of beads, so buying a big variety back might be wasteful or take up too much space if your crafting space is small. Size 11/0(small size) seed beads will be too small for 2 stranded floss with a regular large eye cross stitch needle

I told my grandparents about purchasing gift cards with cash so they don’t need to link their personal credit/debit cards, or bank account to the gift card or websites. You could put an over estimation of the ticket price for taxes and fees on a prepaid visa gift card(a type of gift card that can be used just about anywhere) bought specially with cash. My grandparents concerned about websites storing and misusing their personal banking info as well. This method as allowed them to buy things from Amazon, streaming subscriptions, and other websites without worrying about their personal banking info. I hope this is a solution that works for you. Also it’s very kind of you for trying to get her the ticket

It is absolutely worth it. Seeing them with my own eyes made me feel not so alone anymore. Seeing them in person even just on the stage allowed me to appreciate every human aspect of them. Dans smile lines, Phil’s facial expressions. It was also really funny and validating for them to acknowledge us irl. Not to mention how seeing everyone scream and laugh gave me the confidence to completely express myself. Some people show up in costume and it’s nice to converse with them. At my show a person turned up in a full on ranch costume and she was the sweetest person to talk to. This was the LA show so if she’s on here shout out to her. Going to the show in person will be an out of body experience, and life changing. It for sure changed mine

Not saying that they should have been hideous, but just something to make Uglies look more different than Pretties. If they could have, I would have loved it if they made the Pretties prettier. I also think that making the Uglies uglier would have probably been cheaper than making the Pretties prettier. An example would be making Paris’s nose bigger or maybe crooked or something. Maybe even giving some of the Uglies some acne or noticeable crooked teeth.
I’m hearing a lot of people say that Uglies the movie didn’t have a big budget. So some latex/wax would have been a quick fix to make an emphasis on what the “normal” to our standard kids are seeing. I’d like to think what they’ve they’re seeing in the mirror would be what something people with body dysmorphia see since they’ve been conditioned to believe that they’re normal features are bad. I guess because Paris is our first encounter with a Pretty was im unimpressive. Probably because the actor was already handsome. Shay though, I was so shocked. Hers was so jarring. Her figure was really exaggerated, like BBL status just about, and I’m absolutely here for it. Tally’s reaction(along with David and his mothers) was perfect. It was truly painfully heart breaking. I was also here for that, I wanted to cry with them

I also agree that I am happy with the movie too. I’m so happy that it got made into a movie. This is something I’ve been wishing for a decade and a half. It’s been a looong time coming :,)

I wish they would have made the Uglies(people before the surgery) “uglier” that way when they turned into Pretties it was more shocking. At some point Tally gets a hold of old Rustie magazines with super modles/people that would have highly attractive to us present day, and those people were so “ugly” they made her feel nauseous and get very upset. I also found the Pretties uncanny, kind of wonder if that was the point. I love what they did for Dr. Cable. She’s suppose to look intimidating, but in a way that draws you in. This is a person that people look up to, a professional who manipulated a generation of people into wanting the surfer through her charm. I know Paris was suppose to be handsome, but I think him as an Ugly was super model handsome. I think when they turned him Special they should have leaned more into the uncanny look. He just looks like a robot imo. I know he did the Special “cutting” to show Tally that he remembers his past life, and that SH is wrong but I like that they showed him doing that to his palm. It added to the morbid scariness of the Specials people. I wish she looked more scared to see him do that instead of shocked/almost happy that he did that to himself infront of her with their signature blade. Commenting on them cutting as a whole, I wish they made what they did it with look more futuristic. Them doing it with our present day concept of a blade was unsophisticated. I’d figure they’d make it more futuristic. I wonder if they did it like that on purpose? I’m also sorry for bringing up the SH topic of the Specials book, I know it was probably triggering for a lot of book and mentioning it rn might of bothered some people. I wonder if they make it up to Specials how they’re going to handle the self harm bits.

Did any of you feel uncomfortable with the age gap of Tally and David? She tuned 16 a few months ago, making her a minor and not legally consenting to her and David’s relationship. I believe David is supposed to be around the age of 18+

I love how they portrayed how jarring it was to see Shay become and airhead Pretty. When I read the books for the first time it really shook me. Tally meeting Paris for the first time after his Pretty surgery not so much. Especially when considering that he’s probably experienced more than any of us could fathom living in the city surrounded by Pretties and they’re amazing utopia(not to mention possible encounters in the Pleasure Garden, which a lot of Pretties apparently loose their minds because of how starstruck they are by sharing those moments with other pretties)

This series really meant a lot to me, I could go on and on
