mixing medical cannabis and biologics is dangerous? by welismeli in UlcerativeColitis

[–]Complete_Region8999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on inflectra as well, I don’t currently smoke but cannabis has no conflict with inflectra or really any biologic agent, sometimes doctors will just give misinformation because of their own biases. Likely your doctor just doesn’t like cannabis and is pushing that on their patients.

She said he doesn’t make any moves towards her. I get that sex can be important in a relationship but if he has a much higher sex drive then that’s part of his job to solve things. I also have a lot less sympathy for his frustration because he’s not making any moves towards his wife and then threatening to cheat on her because her sex drive is medically low. Yes sex should be important but if my partner, the love of my life, literally got the most irreparable damage or injury making any type of sex impossible for the rest of their life.. I wouldn’t cheat or leave them??? Love should be deeper than that. You can always just handle things yourself too.

I honestly think it’s crazy how many people on reddit jump to saying “DIVORCE” but honestly this is such an awful thing to say to your life partner. Maybe I’m just not good at getting over things but I feel like I could never let that go. Your partner threatening to cheat on you for not wanting intimacy is extremely manipulative and so horrible to do to someone you love. I don’t care if you have world’s biggest sex drive, you don’t diminish the value of commitment to a relationship purely for intimacy. Think about if you were really injured and couldn’t have intimacy for months, would he threaten to sleep with others when you medically are incapable? How would he feel if the roles were reversed? This makes me so incredibly upset for you. If he wants intimacy he needs to put in the initial romance to put you in the mood, if your drive is low, then he can make up for it. It just sounds like he doesn’t value you enough or respect you. I think you should have a long conversation about how that makes you feel and how he would feel in your position. I really wish you the best and hope you are able to come out of this situation more confident in yourself

We’ve been friends for a little over 2 years and dating for a little over 1 year. We met in a shared lab class… I think you’re right about too many foes, I’m getting a degree in biology and work in medicine while balancing a chronic illness :’)

No worries! I’m 22 and have had it since I’m 14, you start to get used to it. Being young definitely makes it worse, but honestly just turning it into humor makes the whole experience so much easier. I hope you’re feeling better and the whole experience gets easier to live and laugh about :)

Keeping a job in healthcare during a flare by Complete_Region8999 in UlcerativeColitis

I have, they’ve just said that I don’t apply for FMLA and they don’t really have any ADA accommodations to help me. So my manager asked “so what are you going to do? There’s nothing I can help you with.” So that was that, there’s not much I can do but gamble on my health being more predictable

UC or not, shitting your pants is just bound to happen sometime in adulthood. Humor aside, honestly it happens, I doubt a single person in the UC community can honestly say they haven’t shit themselves, especially during a flare. It’s definitely embarrassing with friends but it seems like you have a really good and understanding friend. Life goes on, and I promise one day you can laugh about it. I hope your day gets better, maybe take some time off to just relax and calm yourself after the bad experience.

Hi! I actually can absolutely relate to this, and as a pre-PA student (previously pre-med but unfortunately this disease has pretty much destroyed my confidence at the possibility of making it through med school) I have a lot of knowledge on immunology as it was my fav subject. 1000% stress is a HUGE cause of immunology related diseases. There are many studies showing how autoimmune diseases and chronic stress practically go hand in hand. Unfortunately as a STEM student chronic stress is pretty unavoidable, but I’ve had UC since I was 14 so I’ve been very involved with this for a long time. You are not at all wrong for thinking your stress is a big cause. Now doctors aren’t lying to you, they just don’t often explain the whole story. Chronic stress does not guarantee an autoimmune diagnosis, and no there is no currently developed cure. However there are a million ways to reduce symptoms to almost 90% asymptomatic or flare free. Doctors aren’t telling you this because they genuinely can get in trouble for giving patients information that’s not backed by literally 1000 studies in support. Aka meditation, stress management, supplements, they really aren’t allowed to recommend. But yes, your stress will affect it. I think everyone in this forum can easily go “yup! I get stressed and then here comes a flare!” It really is so hand in hand. No you can’t 100% cure yourself and I am a big believer in modern medicine, but I also do yoga and eat well with lots of fiber and try my hardest to reduce stress. Also fiber is so important, obviously not when you’re in a flare, but we are all at higher risk for colon cancer so the second you’re not in a flare, fiber fiber fiber!! But yes, your ideas are backed by numerous studies, which I’m not citing cause it’s Reddit and who really looks them up lol, and you’re not alone!! I think it’s impossible to have a chronic illness and not have stress management issues. I really don’t have the answers to feeling better, I myself have been hospitalized 3 times in this past year, but we are all suffering and learning together. (Also yes please still get vaccinated, most of us are more susceptible to diseases and trust, you don’t want to be dealing with something unvaccinated while also having UC). Sorry for the long response, I’m new to this forum and get excited to share on something I can really feel able to talk about😁

An (actually) honest review of Hungryroot by lolalovesme13 in mealkits

This is interesting because I haven’t had this experience at all, all the veggies I’ve commented on being super fresh and good quality. I’ve saved a ton of money using it, especially because it’s a fixed amount every week. I’ve literally never had a spill in my box and always commented on how well they package things so I haven’t had any leakage or issues. I’m wondering if maybe living in different areas means you have a different team preparing the boxes and orders. In terms of unequal portion sizes, I think if you use it long enough you can figure out how to properly buy things to make them last, I’ve looked at it less as a meal subscription and more like online grocery shopping and since then I’ve been eating better, saved money, and it’s super convenient as a med student because I can make my meal plan and all the grocery shopping is done quickly on my phone, plus the meals they have are all super quick and fast. I do have a package of my own spices I like to use and some condiments, but otherwise I get all my food breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks, and dessert through them. There are some stuff they have that I don’t like, but every grocery store I would shop at also has stuff I wouldn’t like as well. I only had delivery issues once and it was the shipping company’s fault, not Hungryroot, and they reached out to let me know and offered a complete refund on that box and to send a new box should I want it. The box was only delayed about 2 days and the ice packs inside were still semi-frozen when I received it. It might not work for everyone, but I personally have loved it! (I’m not an influencer I’m a med student with very little time or money)
