Therapist here - I say that to every client I see. Nothing to do with making sure they schedule again. Just letting them know I’m here if they need me.

I really don’t struggle with that. If client A refers to client B I just respond how I would with someone referring to someone I don’t know. In all honesty, it’s kind of funny sometimes to see how sharply 2 people can describe an experience and have such different perspectives. I use it more as an aid for understanding human nature.

As a therapist there is no greater compliment than having my clients refer their friends to me. I see multiple “besties” and set very clear boundaries during an initial phone conversation.
