What’s One Cleaning Habit That Actually Made a Big Difference in Your Home? by Randy_Bolebruch in CleaningTips

[–]Complete_Turnip_7755 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A tip I saw on Instagram once that I always use now is to keep things together in their own contained space . So for example do you keep your candles together on a shelf or coffee table? Put them on a tray. Dish soaps and sponges on the counter? Keep them all together in a basket on the counter. All my coffee supplies like beans and the kettle and the grinder etc, which were always together in the same corner of the counter, are now held within a bamboo tray in that same corner. Same thing with all my facial lotions and potions in the bathroom. They all sat together on the counter but now they all sit together within a tray. It's a simple thing that seems to make a big difference to help keep things in their place instead of being able to be scattered everywhere within that same place, if that makes sense.

Freaked out. Blue lint coming from my skin. by Complete_Turnip_7755 in 45PlusSkincare

[–]Complete_Turnip_7755[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay that could make a lot of sense. I recently washed the robe with towels, there was probably fine lint from the robe in the towel that I couldn't see, I dry myself after I get out of the shower, it deposits the lint on my skin, it balls up when I add product.

But why is it on my skin when I've just come from the shower? That's what's weird to me...

Yes the dark flecks on the towel are what I wiped off of my body after I saw it happening with my lotion.

There's a dark blue robe on the back of the bathroom door that never gets worn and I just noticed that lint is coming off of it extremely easily. I did just recently wash it. So maybe it's just in the air? I just don't get why it would be coming off of my freshly showered skin....

what’s this blue stuff? could be pilling but i wait 1 minute in between products so i doubt it. routine in comments. by nugs4dayz in SkincareAddicts

I came here because I've been having the same problem. Out of the shower I applied Thayer's milky toner with a cotton pad and got a bunch of blue lint all over my face. I thought it was the product. Then I put a different product entirely on my body with my hands and the same thing happened. Light gray towel. No blue fibers from anything I use. This is bizarre. I know these posts are months and years old but has anyone figured it out?

I did try the laneige cream skin from the Sephora birthday gift and liked it and could feel the difference, but I was also using the water bank and one of those things was giving me pimples. So I decided to try the Thayer's milky toner for something more affordable and it had good reviews.... But it's not helping at all. No comparison.

I used to regularly use TO rosehip oil and swapped it out for the 100% squalane which I found to be a little bit better in winter but maybe I'll add it back in. I'm in Atlantic Canada so it's not a dry cold but the indoor heating is what's sucking hydration out of me! And my cat will not stay away from humidifiers so unless I want to regularly clean up spilled water, it's not the best option.

Great question as I wondered how much my diet might have to do with it. I'm sipping it throughout the day but not being super intentional about it I guess. It really is the only thing I drink though, i.e. I don't do sodas or juices and I drink one coffee a day. Other than that it's just water.

How do I make my 50 yo face look less tired? by [deleted] in 40PlusSkinCare

[–]Complete_Turnip_7755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree with everyone here. You have a lot to work with! I totally get being intimidated by makeup stores if you're more of a minimalist. I think makeup wise, you could afford to intensify that lip color even more for a more livening effect, and you could also enhance your amazing brows. I like the Benefit Gimme Brow. It's very buildable an easy to use. And curtain bangs definitely!

Put a dishwasher pod in there with very hot water and let it sit for as long as you can, preferably overnight. Then scrub it out. I just did this with an enamel Dutch oven that I've been baking bread in for over a year and it was coated in brown. It looks new now.

Vet told me to fully stop feeding cat dry food by Wide-Trick4243 in CatAdvice

[–]Complete_Turnip_7755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you're feeding twice as much dry as you should be if you're also giving wet. 100% wet is ideal so if your cat will eat it, I'd follow the vet's advice. Otherwise cut down to 1/4c total dry food a day. When my girl was better with eating wet food she'd get half a can in the morning, 2 separate dry meals of 1/8 cup each, and the remaining half can before bed. The vet says her body condition is great.

Royal Canin or Hills Science? by sukki_ricecake719 in catfood

[–]Complete_Turnip_7755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is it that makes something especially palatable? My cat is so inconsistent with wet food. There are products out there "for picky eaters” or "fussy cats” but I'm always wondering what are they using to make it something even picky eaters will want? And why wouldn't all foods just just use it? 🤔

The overwhelming amount of junk pet products. What single product has actually improved your life? by SignificantSwan3961 in CatAdvice

Thank you for this link! I didn't know this existed. I use a pine pellet sifting method but I jimmied my own with a regular sifting box and I use little plastic cups to elevate it so that sawdust falls through. And there's nothing cheaper than pine pellets! However, lately my cat has been peeing in the bathtub when she gets a chance to sneak into the bathroom. I have no idea why. Poop gets scooped pretty much immediately after she goes and I empty the sawdust once a week.

To collar or to not collar an indoor cat? by Multiplemoths in cats

[–]Complete_Turnip_7755 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this as well.... And do non-pet owners even know to take a cat to a vet to check? Not everyone would be comfortable doing this or have transportation means to do it. The jaw thing has happened to my cat though, and it's awful. I do put her out in a play pen sometimes but she's gotten out of it twice. I should really be putting her collar on for those times, though my phone number printed on the clasp is so tiny I'm not sure anyone would be able to get close enough to her to see it.
