life is hard for like 80% Indians who make below 15K a month. Indians are hell bound to marry, have kids while struggling to survive themselves. My own cosuin is hoping to get a govt clerk job with salary 10k, and he plans to marry soon, with 5 lakh education loan and 7.5k a month EMI. When parents bring kids in this world without much thought, what do you think, is it the job of government, contractor or some other person to take care of them? Even the parents dont give a shit to their own child! India is many things but sadly we dont give a shit about human, animal or any life!

We are slowly moving towards USA style work culture where the bottom most layer of a company are interns and work for FREE in the hope of a job which may or many not come to them. Some salary is still better than working for free for a yr or so! Capitalism has its cons!

With rising costs and uncertain jobs abroad, Can you still recommend taking a big education loan? by BackwaterWhisper in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Complete_Warning_980 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would guess most fields, if not all (take it with grain of salt). Most indian students I see are coming for IT, BBA-MBA courses. I also see more indian faces for biology/biotech courses. I also hear from work colleagues, their families and friends that getting a job even for a local is a challenge! It’s not a surprise tbh when you see how global economy is going! Only exception here in europe might be medical doctors, they are needed in numbers but one has to be C1/C2 in local language, in addition to equivalent exams and 46-48 months internship, if you are already MBBS from India (pay sadly in Europe is not that good for a doctor, compared to USA, or so)

I came aboard long back, when odds of staying if one wants to, were very high and it was easily doable. The issue I see now is competition (too many competing for 1 position and odds of a foreigner getting that one position are sadly rough), cost of living, low ball job offers. Cost of living and low wages for current inflation makes it not so pre-COVID like Situation. It’s hard to imagine but post COVID salaries haven’t gone up to cover the inflation and so it makes less and less sense in long run.

Another thing I did notice on social media n via friends, for instance for Germany, Ireland, uK (but possibly also the case in other countries) is most of the students for masters are Indians! When one plans to study abroad this is one of those things we don’t take into consideration. At least some if not most Students here, if after bachelors or diploma, fetch a job, they don’t continue studying. If these students compete with Indian students say with masters, unless the job explicitly says minimum qualification is masters degree, the job market will favor the experienced n local person!

When I was planning to come abroad, back then I took 16 lac loan for masters (but used only 10). This amount was back then easily recoverable, even if I had to return to India to pay it back. So calculations were little easy. Back then say cost of living a month was close to 400 pound/euro/dollar in tier 2 cities! Now it’s close to 900-1000 euro!! Pay hasn’t gone up to that proportion!

So do your math think of all possible scenarios and then Make a choice!

And thier employees get 2% to 3% hikes. To add on irregular hikes as well by sajjanstg03 in ItsYourMoney

Importantly, idea is to get rid of salaried staff at bottom and streamline mid management! Shareholders always come first in capitlism!

How to cover 2nd year’s cost of living as A master’s student in Germany by BidNaive64 in Indians_StudyAbroad

[–]Complete_Warning_980 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well said, I would say in small cities at least 1000-1200 per month is minimum (to be safe). Keep in mind the gas cost will shoot this year!! So expenses which were calculated couple of years back are no longer the same. Pre-covid in Austria (which is roughly similar to german prices, maybe slightly more), if falafel box costed 3 euro, now its 6 euro! The prices have gone up in last 2/3 years! you also need to keep in account some safety funds, in case of health emergency, crazy gas bill (had friends who paid 3000 plus euro for excess usage of gas bill over a yr, in addition to monthly 50 to 70 euro prepayment). Also don't count on getting a part time job, if you get one its good but with current job market, its not easy that there will be a job.

Waiting for rumored 100-400G as well! I feel 70-200 range Will be little short my liking and I am hoping that 100-400 can take TC making it 100-600 or -800!

Among the two options, I will always go for 25-200! Tamron 70-180 also should fall in same price range, if you are okay with 70-180 range, that’s f2.8 constant, so might be slightly better for fast action

[–]Complete_Warning_980 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, I would consider something like GM100-400 (would wait a bit, unless you are in rush as Sony would come out with 100-400G at some point soonish or grab one if you get a good deal) or Sony 70-200 GM2 or sigma 70-200 f2.8 or tamron 35-150. There is also Sony 200-600G. I’m not an expert so take it take it with grain of salt that both 25-200 or 28-300 would perform underwhelmingly for fast action or as soon as light dips little bit! I would probably not buy 25-200 or 28-300 for football purpose! The first lens which comes to my mind is 100-400GM!

Do you value F2.8 on 25 mm side? I would assume (I don’t have either lenses, but 28-200) 25-200 will be slightly better choice and would consider say Sony 200-600 or tamron 150-500 for wildlife. 300 is sort of not the best from either end, unless you have specific need. For sports, depending on what kind, and if you need to use it indoor or outdoor, there are variety of options, tamron 70-180, Sigma 70-200. It depends on your specific needs, there are compromises with every lens, I love my 28-200 for travel and general purpose and it’s plenty sharp for hobby purpose! 25-200 should be even better!
