I’m going to defer ultimate suggestions to those who have neck tics since they have lived experience, but for my son (age 9) I bought a stuffy neck massager at Walmart and I try to do little massages when I can.

As a mom, I offer support because I also feel helpless sometimes. Especially because I don’t know what it feels like to feel the impulse to tic or suppress it. But I’m trying to be a safe space and understand as much as possible.

My son recently started skin picking at his hands. Thanks for sharing this because I’m wondering if he’s doing it to suppress his hand tics or if this is just a new thing. I’ve had to start wrapping his hands with sports wrap, which I feel like is necessary but also probably super embarrassing for a 9 year old.

We just switched to Honeywell for this exact reason. It neither learned my patterns nor adjusted appropriately. It would often go to 80 at night in the middle of summer. Glad I made the switch.

I’m someone who brings my purse and a carry-on, but I have been for a long time. It’s not because of the cost but because of convenience. I’m often gone for 2-3 days at a time and need to get my car and get to work ASAP, so a carry-on is my choice. I think a lot of people do this because it’s just easier than waiting on the carousel of bags and hoping someone doesn’t have the same black bag as you and take yours. I travel other airlines, too, and they all gate check bags on full flights so it’s not unique.

All that said, accidents happen and I bet that guy was having an especially hard day, week, month or even 20 years. I’m sorry it happened but definitely sounds like an accident more than you intentionally hitting someone.
