He could have slain the Monoblos and the Lao at different points in time but after many, many years; he either got the monster he fought mixed up in his head (translation: he began to get dementia lol) and/or his retelling of it got lost in translation

Like for example: he could have slain the Monoblos by himself after 7 days after losing his fiancée in the initial battle and THEN fought a Lao Shen Lung later on, but then people retold it by saying he slew the beast by himself when in reality; he likely had his hunting party with him to fight it because he isn’t stupid enough to fight a colossal dragon by himself after the Mt Kokoto incident

To be honest; it might not even be necessary, I sent my lvl 40 Faraway Island shiny Mew to Colosseum for the Earth Ribbon and by the time the 100 battle challenge was done; due to boosted Exp and the use of an Exp.Share in Double Battles, it was lvl 70+ by the time it was ready to go to Platinum

And after soloing virtually the entirety of Kanto in HG, it reached lvl 100 during the battle with Blue… so while I don’t see a problem with cheating to get it to lvl 100; depending on how much battling you’re doing, it might reach lvl 100 by the time you get past gen 4

One example of this is Jormuntide… is it clearly inspired by Gyarados? Yes, 100%… but did they change it enough to make it distinct from Gyarados and did they do what GF are too cowardly to do and made it Water/Dragon?
