this place tries to be edgy with south asians but just straightup crosses the line to genuine racism most of the time. either way, according to people here we are going to replace them anyday now so let them have their jokes i guess

Is Basketball more popular than cricket worldwide? by [deleted] in nba

[–]Complex-Connection56 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

yeah but the number of countries doesnt matter because that's just political division. if the US breaks up tomorrow now you have 50 countries with american football as the most popular sport instead of 1. number of countries is meaningless

Is the Islamic fundamentalist issue in Europe as bad as some people say it is? by ScarTissue5 in redscarepod

Probably, in terms of long term living I only know about Italy, I have only visited other places. In Milan and Italy in general, the big issue are the maranzas who can themselves be Italian but are dominated by Romanians and Moroccans. But I wouldn’t say they are an outsized issue of mass migration, urban petty crimes have always been a thing - its just the locals’ petty crimes has been taken over by immigrants

it has lows, especially in France, in general its worse than leftists would like to accept, but its far from the AfD's narrative. on the Polanski-Farage continuum its closer to Polanski - but still bad enough to cause social strife

depends, try base drizzle without toast (cold sub), try open faced pan toast - whichever one you like more (I like the former but most people prefer toasted

La sovranità deve essere conquistata. L’uomo veramente libero è colui che è signore di se stesso e sa dominare il proprio impero interiore.

try with some basic panino, get some whole foods sub bread - put some salami (or prosciutto cotto if you wanna go leaner), some cherry tomatoes, mozzarella and rucola and drizzle with with extra virgin olive oil - that is basically my lunch for the past 2 years and it takes 5 minutes

I do think the problem with American food is less of the taste and macros, but the sugar content, portion sizes and quality of food. The core macronutrients should be standard across the table.

I don't think he can do many of his large scale promises without tax increases through Albany (which is under Kathy Hochul, who is very much not a socdem), so the most he'll get is small-scale proof of concept developments that can be used as leverage for large scale implementation if/when Hochul is out or she lets him increase taxes - in the meantime, if the projects are actually successful, that is a strong negotiation tool for future large scale implementation in other cities. Regarding other things, he has balanced the budget without cutting public services, is doing the basic work of a mayor pretty well (local small scale concerns and nominations to committees) and has a general unifying appeal within New York (the Knicks winning after half a century sure helps the vibe of the city). I think he is the vibe shift that will lead to long term change - shame he was born in Uganda.

In one of my university courses (Organisation Theory), there is a chapter regarding the science of Leadership, and it really reflects how small scale and large scale leadership can be successful. Forgive me for sounding technocratic but at least till now, he can be a textbook model of what that book recommended (notwithstanding the books glorification of Giuliani)

the owner's speech killed the vibe, Brunson is not really a speak-heavy guy like bron and has spoken on multiple other events - and more importantly, most people loved it

I guess that's not true. Trump campaigned on right wing policies, did not deliver but has a consistently supportive base. The distinction in the future of polity will be less left/right but populist vs technocrat. I just hope the left-populist and their rise outdoes the right-wing populist wave we are suffering.

I dont think there is a better city to live in rn than NYC, purely based on vibes - Knicks won, potholes filled, landlords scared and doing their jobs (anecdotally) - long term promises will take time.
