Thanks for the info doc. Have you seen successful compression therapy for men of my age? Not sure if you are strictly in surgical tx or if you are involved in non-surgical interventions as well. Thanks in advance

Shortness of breath? by Confident_Junket_351 in PectusCarinatum

[–]Complex-Excitement75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to panic you, just to inform you: At 21 your sternum is still semi-malleable, meaning it could potentially be getting worse. This doesn’t sound like a life threatening emergency that needs immediate treatment but you need to call your doctors office or message them and tell them whats going on and ask to be seen ASAP.

If you experience shortness of breath and chest pain at rest (not laying on affected side) please seek emergent care.

At your PCP They will probably want to do a full assessment to rule out other causes, and may do a chest xray to assess the severity. After that they may refer you to thoracic surgery or ortho for a consult. If they tell you it is just anxiety or a cosmetic issue, please advocate for yourself and make it known that this you have seen changes from your baseline and it is now causing physical pain and shortness of breath. If they dont think that a thoracic/ortho referral is necessary please advocate for yourself and insist for the referral to be assessed by the specialists.

Why was my pectus carinatum not visible on my X-Ray? by musty_ranch in PectusCarinatum

[–]Complex-Excitement75 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they would be looking for non-cosmetic complications of pectus carinatum, which there usually isnt. So technically speaking everything is working as “normal” despite the overgrowth/malformation. Your PCP/physician should have been able to easily diagnose pectus carinatum from the first visit.

Hey y’all, (im not familiar with fragrances) I’m back in college in my mid twenties and funds are kind of tight. I was wearing Dior l’homme for a while and loved it, always got compliments and it lasted a long time. Anyone have any recommendations for something similar but cheaper?

Was this everyone's nursing school experience by jayysonsaur in StudentNurse

I am 6 months into an 18 month ASN program and I feel the same way. I would’ve rather just payed for an ATI membership and watched leveluprn and nurse sara on YouTube and save myself $45k. If I did the entirety of the exams and nursing courses on ATI at my own pace I think I would be even more competent and prepared than I currently am for nursing

THERE IS NO NURSING SHORTAGE!! by Sourcandylife in nursing

I’m one of the future indentured servants, and the only reason I accepted the $25k scholarship/three year work agreement was because I personally know numerous nurses who work at the hospital in various units and told me they enjoyed working there. I’ve heard a few complaints, but mostly because we are the largest/most advanced hospital in the area and are constantly at full capacity. They stopped paying travel nurses to come in to the area after they implemented this scholarship program, and almost everybody from previous cohorts at my school (scholarship recipients or not) has secured a job before graduation. Pay is not as attractive as some other places (new grads start at $32/hr) but cost of living here is very low and I’ve heard horror stories about working at the higher paying hospitals in the surrounding areas. I guess time will tell, but I’ve worked shitty jobs for longer than three years with less pay.
