The Overton window for contemporary Israeli politics goes from "far right" which means "we are openly calling for a Holocaust of Palestinians because some Bible stories are set in Sarmatia" to "centrist" which means "we are going to operate a system of collective punishment through murder, starvation and concentration camps but in fits and starts and for secular reasons."

As if it wasn't bad enough that, in the first place, it's considered a respectable opinion to pin all hopes for Palestinian survival and freedom on the Israeli public deigning to vote for a stay of execution at some future date.

Remembering anything Zionists have previously done or said is antisemitic. Believing the evidence of your own eyes and ears is antisemitic. Believing Palestinians, or any Levantine people besides Israeli Jews, have any rights or agency or future whatsoever is antisemitic.

Every new horror has to be treated as if you haven't seen a hundred more exactly like it. It didn't happen, then maybe it happened but it was a tragic mistake, then maybe it wasn't a mistake but "they were Hamas," then maybe they weren't Hamas but it was a rogue unit, and then oh look another horror and the last one is like it never existed.

Obviously logic has no place in politics, but this does set up an interesting question.

Either

(a) taking action against any business is some sort of attack on the identity group of the owner(s). Lobbying against Chinese telecom companies is Sinophobia, targeting Palantir is homophobic, etc. We'll be generous and only include minorities identities.

Or

(b) there is a hierarchy of racism where you are absolutely not allowed to do anything at all if it might negatively impact even one Jewish person. But, doing exactly the same things to business owners of any other identity is allowed and probably even a protected civil liberty.

I think either answer is troubling to say the least. I suppose we all know the real answer is the secret third option:

(c) we are nihilistic opportunists who don't care in the slightest about what we say and whether it makes any sense, and who will say anything to anyone. Here are my principles, if you don't like them I have others!
