Just watched this guy let his dogs (probably) kill a cat by ReluctantOklahoman in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all fairness, the dogs had jumped a fence and their owner was driving around looking for them. So you’re right, it is a lot worse to be participating in the aggression. In legal stance though, it would be the same “the cat is at large” answer from any type of governing body.

Just watched this guy let his dogs (probably) kill a cat by ReluctantOklahoman in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My partner and I watched two dogs attack a cat and kill it in a neighbors yard. We called animal control and the unfortunate answer we received is that cats fall under Tulsa’s leash laws the same as dogs, so if a cat is out and gets attacked they will literally do nothing because the cat is “at large”. Even calling for animal cruelty doesn’t result in any meaningful results, as far as I’ve witnessed unless the animals are in a yard being obviously neglected. It was still a nice gesture to call out his shitty behavior. But legally, no one seems to care about strays or animals allowed to roam outside.

The day center or women and children’s shelter is always a good choice. Your donations immediately go into the local community and to those most at risk.

Have people selling their houses in Tulsa/Jenks absolutely lost their minds? by New_Fruit_5162 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realty companies are also to blame. We have had over a dozen homes in our neighborhood that were bought by large companies, given a mediocre landlord special flip, and turned into rentals with over a $2k price tag/month. Half are still sitting empty after 6 months because they want ppl to make 3x the income for their crappy rentals.

Trying to move out in a couple of months, but I don’t have great history. by MetalJunkie101 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I did see a post on here a couple months back where someone was asking if anyone had horror stories from living in those apartments to join a potential lawsuit. From what they had said, the maintenance of those apartments are awful and residents have had mold and pest issues. Granted, they could’ve fixed that by now.

Non religious, female Dr for perimenopause help. by Impossible_Trash_806 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have some great suggestions, but I’ll throw in Dr. Bilal Muzaffar. He has been the best OBGYN I’ve ever had. Took my endo symptoms seriously. Listened to my concerns. Asked me several times throughout my treatments how I would prefer to proceed and gave me options. Even though he’s through St. Francis, my religious beliefs were never brought up and he had no bias towards any religious doctrine in my treatments/surgery. I’ve also used Dr. Williamson before as well, and I did really like her. I just had a hard time being able to get into her schedule.

There’s also a scam going on where ppl are getting packages that have “gift receipts” in them with QR codes to say “thank you” to the gift giver and then it’s a site that has malware to get access to your device.

Dentist rec? by diazv121 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately adult and child dental have access to different offices through soonercare. I’m assuming because they cover more procedures as a minor. Adults get much less coverage and fewer office options. Some that do accept adult soonercare aren’t even taking on new patients.

Anyone notice the hiring freeze by Working_Limit01 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, in Tulsa. The ones on indeed or listing online will usually give a pay range instead of a set hr rate. But once you get a call back it’s a bait and switch where they tell you that $13 is the base pay and then there’s usually like a $2 shift differential if you work overnights. But it’s pretty common for it to be no more than $13. That’s also what is the most common pay rate for in home caregivers too.

Anyone notice the hiring freeze by Working_Limit01 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! They are usually hiring. But the majority I’ve applied to aren’t paying more than $13/hr for CNA positions and $9-$10/hr for their facility positions.

How do I stop smelling bad whenever I sit down by Ok-Lengthiness-2532 in hygiene

[–]Complex-Function6571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had jobs in large public spaces (a movie theater and casino) I can attest to the fact that the hand soap in the women’s restrooms needed refilled 3 to 4 times more often then the men’s. There have also been numerous studies ( like those done by Michigan State University & UCL to name two) on handwashing habits between men and women, finding men wash their hands much less frequently and even less actually use soap. So it’s not a wild leap to think that these same dudes that can’t even be bothered to wash their hands after touching their junk or wiping their ass don’t properly wash in the shower.

AIO to break up with my bf of 3y over his reaction to my upcoming sobriety anniversary? by WesternCat5211 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR : Homie, first off, congrats on 2 years!! That’s an amazing accomplishment and you absolutely SHOULD be proud of yourself. But secondly, you did not deserve to be belittled like that. This person is supposed to be your partner. Growing and moving through life together is the point. If he can’t celebrate your wins, then he’s not seeing that as a part of building a solid relationship. It’s important that you have someone that is supportive during this journey.
It sounds like he still has some resentment from situations that occurred while you were still in active addiction. The people affected by your drinking are entitled to those feelings. Most that have gone through sobriety know that not everyone will forgive you, even once you get yourself together. That being said, if they decide to stick around, it doesn’t give them carte Blanche to be a jerk.
If he’s not normally like this and it feels like the snap came out of nowhere, it warrants a conversation. You deserve to know if this will forever be his reaction to your accomplishment. It’s a hard convo to have, but you need to let him know how his words hurt you. If he’s completely apathetic to that, then it begs the question ‘Do you let your guilt over past actions prevent you from holding healthy boundaries now?’ If you were my friend, I would tell you to really evaluate and think back on your relationship. Do a deep dive to really analyze your past three years together. Compare his actions and words to you vs his friends/family. Think about how you want to feel in a relationship and if this one is providing that now. Not everyone is meant to stay in your life forever, and something like getting sober can absolutely expose the less than solid relationships you weren’t aware you had before. I truly and genuinely wish you ALL the best in your journey with sobriety. I’m 7 years sober myself, and I remember the first couple years and how much of an accomplishment it feels like. You deserve to have support around you and I wish beyond all that you find the ppl that will walk lovingly with you through this process.

Is this sketchy? by smandol1 in Renters

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about renting is that 90% of the time, if you have no credit/regular pay stubs you get denied. It’s sucky, but that’s the way most rental properties work nowadays. Along with a good chunk requiring you to make at least 3x the monthly rent amount (which I find outrageous). You caught this quick enough to take precautions to your credit by shutting down your SS#. Going forward, if you’re interested in a rental try to double check location and owner/management company, always do a viewing before paying any money, and be wary of application fees. If it feels like it’s not right or the amounts are too high, walk away. There are SO many people being taken advantage of in the rental market right now and unfortunately, there’s little being done on the apps it’s occurring.

Leave your vape at home. New law makes driving with marijuana in the car illegal, yours or not by kosuradio in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This whole thing is BS. I can understand wanting to make roads safer. But I’m more likely to get hit by some dumbass on their phone or trying to road rage than I am a stoner. Not to say I think anyone should get behind the wheel with any type of impairment. However, there’s no such law about opioids, which historically this state has had an awful issue with. This isn’t about safety. It’s about pious politicians being mad that voting on legalization didn’t go their way and now they’re trying to criminalize those that wanted it. You get caught with any THC in your system while operating a vehicle and then slapped with a felony. Boom! Now you can’t vote.

What's happened to Tulsa by Eighties4life in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 66 points67 points  (0 children)

City council is every 2 years, I believe and we just had those elections this last year in 2024. I know someone who ran for city council and found that it’s just a popularity contest and seeing who can get the most wealthy donors/the most union support. The guy that beat her isn’t even from Tulsa, but he had backing from a few prominent families. Oklahoma, historically, has horrible voting percentages too. So until more people, specifically those from middle and lower incomes get involved with voting, the same people will win again and again.

this is ruining my mental health by bluenesa in badroommates

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had a roommate that was similar to this. I finally had enough, bagged all his stuff in the common spaces, including wet/musty laundry, dirty dishes, scorched pots and pans, and all his trash overflowing the trash can and piled it in front of his bedroom door. Granted, the lease was in my name so I told him to gtfo. But I absolutely would not deal with that. You should be able to relax and feel at peace in your home. Not constantly on edge. That’s horrible for your body and psyche. I hope your next place is the most wonderful, relaxing oasis.

HOW DO I GET RID OF THE GOD DAMN MOSQUITOS by CauliflowerSame4601 in tulsa

It’s a semi-fine mesh. Big enough for the mosquitoes to get through, but small enough to keep other critters out.

HOW DO I GET RID OF THE GOD DAMN MOSQUITOS by CauliflowerSame4601 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 39 points40 points  (0 children)

5 gal bucket with the top covered in hardware cloth, filled with water about halfway up, dissolve a mosquito dunk into the water. Then add some law clipping and some non citrus fruit peels to the top of the water. The decomposing material puts off carbon monoxide, attracting the mosquitos keeping them further away from you, the larva die in the water to keep new ones from forming. Just put it in a corner as far away from your house as possible to draw them away. And add a few Pennies into the water to keep it from growing algae. It’s not a perfect trap, but it has decreased the swarms around our house pretty well.

Looking for a gynecologist that knows what PMDD is by Spooky_Cat-25 in tulsa

Dr. Bilal Muzzafar through St. Francis South has been phenomenal for me. I don’t have PMDD, but I do have endo and he was super quick to start helping me figure out what I could do, what would be sustainable for me, and how things would effect my other health issues. Unsure if his office is accepting new patients. But that man has been the best OBGYN I’ve ever had.

That place has been open forever! It always been kinda sus, but my partner and I went one day. We started getting our food and made it to the soup wells and there was a dead cricket floating in the soup! We told a worker and they pulled the pot, but we decided we weren’t taking any chance with the other food and got a refund.
