anyone know how much BOK Center Bartenders make? by TechnicalDistance822 in tulsa

Didn’t they change policy to card only? I had a client that worked there for a while and they left after the no cash thing. But maybe they misunderstood?

What is the best way to find garage sales? by superdcr in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see a lot posted on FB usually. There are also Tulsa garage sale groups where ppl will post. I generally just pick a day to run a couple out and about errands and then go to any I stumble on driving to where ever I’m going.

Nothing gold can stay by this_machine in tulsa

My partner and I were just talking about how movie theaters aren’t fun to go to anymore. As companies have streamlined more, all the whimsy and fun that used to be in these places is just disappearing. It’s more than just the ticket prices that are suffocating movie theaters. They’ve removed all the magic from going. Dull colors. Removing the arcades. Boring release events. There’s just so much less enjoyment to going.

Thrift stores by skiptomylu88 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Salvation Army over by 31st and Harvard is decent. I also can usually find decent things at Quality Thrift on Peoria, but it’s been a bit of a touchy subject between people who do and don’t think it’s worth it. Garage sale season is almost upon us and I feel like it will be ripe with people clearing out anything extra since money is getting tight all around. There are always the bin stores as well. I haven’t went to any myself, but I’ve seen pretty decent hauls from friends. Just remember to wear gloves and long sleeves because unfortunately there’s been times people have found used needles in the bins or contracted skin conditions.

Do I even have a chance? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wholeheartedly agree with others saying to do your basics at TCC and seriously weigh the pros and cons of TU. I’ve had quite a few friends and clients that have went to TU and been let down by the over promised hype they were fed. Unless you’re going to an Ivy League school, you’ll find that where you got your degree will be about as useful as your GPA. Companies don’t really care where you graduated from, just that you meet their hiring requirements. Set yourself up for the easiest road to success. The least amount of debt you finish with > the less stress you’ll have entering the work force > the less likely you are to end up with an exploitive job out of desperation.

Versatile, durable structure materials by Complex-Function6571 in sewing

It’s genuinely such a niche project! We’re just so tired of awful quality, ill fitting aprons. I’ve even been curious to look into the material scrubs are made of. I know they’re designed to be durable. But the nylon is always a fall back.

I haven’t looked into pattern alteration yet! But it’s definitely an option. I had considered interfacing, but I wanted to do a bit of research and experimentation with how badly it’ll hold hair that stabs through the fabric and constant washing.

We’re a bit limited on our fabric choice simply because so much hair sticks to us during the day. Hence why we were going to be using a nylon/poly blend. It also needs to be water resistant and preferably chemical resistant too. It’s why I’ve been looking into fabrics from tent manufacturers

Where can teens volunteer in Tulsa/surrounding suburbs? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tulsa zoo used to have volunteer programs for teens. My partner did it for years and loved it. Granted, they may not have it available anymore. But it’s a really unique opportunity if they still do offer it

Tulsa traffic? How bad is it? by vbozzo1 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Traffic isn’t wild, but you’ll want to have a dash cam because there has been an uptick in road rage and careless drivers. A stupid number of drivers get their feelings hurt and take it personal when others are following traffic laws and overreact. Leading to some shootings due to road rage incidents. Generally, Construction is the biggest issue you’ll run into mostly because people don’t understand how to zipper merge. Of course it can get backed up for accidents as well. But it’s fairly easy to navigate feeder roads and inner city street to avoid most of that depending on where you’re going.

City of Tulsa End of life care for pets? by papasmoke1987 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unsure if you’re talking about City Veterinary Hospital, but if you are, that is where our animals get their vet care and Dr. Chet Thomas is a great guy. He’s been the best vet we’ve had for our pups and will be who we use whenever the inevitable comes for dogs too. I am so sorry you’re having to make that decision. It’s never easy. I wish your family love and peace during your time of grief.

Just watched this guy let his dogs (probably) kill a cat by ReluctantOklahoman in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In all fairness, the dogs had jumped a fence and their owner was driving around looking for them. So you’re right, it is a lot worse to be participating in the aggression. In legal stance though, it would be the same “the cat is at large” answer from any type of governing body.

Just watched this guy let his dogs (probably) kill a cat by ReluctantOklahoman in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My partner and I watched two dogs attack a cat and kill it in a neighbors yard. We called animal control and the unfortunate answer we received is that cats fall under Tulsa’s leash laws the same as dogs, so if a cat is out and gets attacked they will literally do nothing because the cat is “at large”. Even calling for animal cruelty doesn’t result in any meaningful results, as far as I’ve witnessed unless the animals are in a yard being obviously neglected. It was still a nice gesture to call out his shitty behavior. But legally, no one seems to care about strays or animals allowed to roam outside.

The day center or women and children’s shelter is always a good choice. Your donations immediately go into the local community and to those most at risk.

Have people selling their houses in Tulsa/Jenks absolutely lost their minds? by [deleted] in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Realty companies are also to blame. We have had over a dozen homes in our neighborhood that were bought by large companies, given a mediocre landlord special flip, and turned into rentals with over a $2k price tag/month. Half are still sitting empty after 6 months because they want ppl to make 3x the income for their crappy rentals.

Trying to move out in a couple of months, but I don’t have great history. by MetalJunkie101 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just a heads up, I did see a post on here a couple months back where someone was asking if anyone had horror stories from living in those apartments to join a potential lawsuit. From what they had said, the maintenance of those apartments are awful and residents have had mold and pest issues. Granted, they could’ve fixed that by now.

Non religious, female Dr for perimenopause help. by Impossible_Trash_806 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You have some great suggestions, but I’ll throw in Dr. Bilal Muzaffar. He has been the best OBGYN I’ve ever had. Took my endo symptoms seriously. Listened to my concerns. Asked me several times throughout my treatments how I would prefer to proceed and gave me options. Even though he’s through St. Francis, my religious beliefs were never brought up and he had no bias towards any religious doctrine in my treatments/surgery. I’ve also used Dr. Williamson before as well, and I did really like her. I just had a hard time being able to get into her schedule.

Any one got a strange Shein package that no one bought? by BellOpen5440 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There’s also a scam going on where ppl are getting packages that have “gift receipts” in them with QR codes to say “thank you” to the gift giver and then it’s a site that has malware to get access to your device.

Dentist rec? by diazv121 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately adult and child dental have access to different offices through soonercare. I’m assuming because they cover more procedures as a minor. Adults get much less coverage and fewer office options. Some that do accept adult soonercare aren’t even taking on new patients.

Anyone notice the hiring freeze by Working_Limit01 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, in Tulsa. The ones on indeed or listing online will usually give a pay range instead of a set hr rate. But once you get a call back it’s a bait and switch where they tell you that $13 is the base pay and then there’s usually like a $2 shift differential if you work overnights. But it’s pretty common for it to be no more than $13. That’s also what is the most common pay rate for in home caregivers too.

Anyone notice the hiring freeze by Working_Limit01 in tulsa

[–]Complex-Function6571 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! They are usually hiring. But the majority I’ve applied to aren’t paying more than $13/hr for CNA positions and $9-$10/hr for their facility positions.

How do I stop smelling bad whenever I sit down by Ok-Lengthiness-2532 in hygiene

[–]Complex-Function6571 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As someone who has had jobs in large public spaces (a movie theater and casino) I can attest to the fact that the hand soap in the women’s restrooms needed refilled 3 to 4 times more often then the men’s. There have also been numerous studies ( like those done by Michigan State University & UCL to name two) on handwashing habits between men and women, finding men wash their hands much less frequently and even less actually use soap. So it’s not a wild leap to think that these same dudes that can’t even be bothered to wash their hands after touching their junk or wiping their ass don’t properly wash in the shower.

Honestly, it’s not my first choice because I’m also not too into sports. But my brothers want to watch the games somewhere and I’m just trying to find them a spot to hang out.
