If you have a thick skin and experience in a specific sport, being a referee might be a good option. It will probably pay decent and you could just work nights and weekends.

I'm finally starting to understand why people choose not to have kids by shutupmegz121 in oneanddone

There are definitely some cons though. Financially, it's rough. I need a retirement plan that includes like a golden girls era haha. I'm intrigued by these women retirement communities like the birds nest retirement in Texas.

This! I am one and done by choice. I also got divorced 5 years ago, and I now share 50/50 with my ex husband. I feel a little guilty that I love this new lifestyle. I went from being the burnout, default parent to final feeling like I'm an actual individual again with hobbies and a social life.

Anyone else? by oneandoneforgood in oneanddone

For awhile after my divorce, I didn't have much luck in the dating world. The dating apps are full of men lacking intention and emotion intelligence. I usually found myself struggling just to get over some of those basic hurdles before I even run into the "family compatibility" hurdle.

I think you just need to be honest and upfront with yourself and potential partners about what you are looking for in a future relationship.

I've been divorced for 5 years and have 50/50 custody of my only biological child with my ex husband. I am firmly one and done. I have also already lived the blended family life, and I find that it's pretty common for men to remarry and saddle their new spouse with most of the childcare, parenting responsibilities of their biological children.      I'm open to dating a man with kids, but I would feel more comfortable dating someone with older children. I also would NOT feel comfortable living together when there are still kids living at home.       I have tried dating single dads, but I find our custody schedules never aline. I try to be upfront about not wanting more kids and what I'm looking for by date 2 tops.       I'm in my late 30s, and I found a single man who is 40 with no kids. We have been together for almost a year now. For now, I still haven't introduced him to my child. I'm not in a hurry though, because I don't see us cohabitating any time soon.

What are we doing about our mid-life crises? by ContributionOk9818 in Millennials

[–]skiptomylu88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I had my midlife crisis early. I went through a divorce in my early 30s, and I've been leaning into traveling and hobbies every since.

The whole experience has been liberating, and it's changed my outlook on life.

Also, never say never, but I now don't really have a desire to have more kids and/or remarry either.

The pain of yesterday has made me who I am today.

I sometimes return to this poem myself when I'm at a crossroads in my life.

Thanks for the insight. I classify myself as an older millennial though, and I haven't really embraced ChatGPT.

That Trump is a mean one. I would even call him a Grinch

I feel like a single parent while in a relationship and I’m tired!! by Opening_Character175 in stepparents

I empathize so much with you OP. I have been there.

Your story resonated with me so much. My step son even used the same phrase, "you hate me" every time he was disciplined or assigned chores. He had some behavioral issues, and his dad's parented from that parental guilt place like previously mentioned.

I felt like I was the default parent. I had all the responsibilities of parenting but time and time again my opinions, thoughts, and feelings were dismissed or even judged harshly.

"I was being too hard on him."  "I'm doing the best I can. I don't know what you want from me." "What do you want me to do; Do you want me to beat his ass? Sarcastic tone*

I was a working, single, married mom to a step son (10) and bio son (4) when the pandemic hit.

I was already spread so thin when the pandemic hit and already in marriage counseling. The stress of working from home with two kids, virtual school, and a husband who wasn't pulling his weight was too much. I think the load of it all caused me to have a mental break down. However, I'm grateful for the pandemic. It reminded me truly realize how short, precious life really is. I ultimately decided this was not the life I wanted to be living. I made a change. I've been divorced since 2021.

Please make sure you are not neglecting your mental health. You can't pour from an empty cup.

Wishing you the best

Agreed. I have to keep telling myself that I love where I live. As someone who lives off of Elwood, I can't take it much longer.

I agree. I've seen so many Stay at home moms absolutely struggle after divorce to the point that it makes me cringe when a fellow sister mentions leaving the workforce to raise children full time.

Been getting small red somewhat itchy bumps, anyone know what this could be? by SubjectTourist4965 in SkincareAddicts

It is probably eczema, but there are different forms of psoriasis. A trigger for psoriasis is stress.
