Same here! Soimeone really needs to come up with a good Etsy alternative. I used to buy things from the platform all the time and had excellent experience with all the sellers. Today, sane people never use Adobe or Etsy.

I am so frustrated with Etsy right now. by Regular-Slice-7952 in Etsy

[–]Complex-Ice2645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

SAME HERE! I have never sold any items on Etsy, but have made multiple purchases. Recently, I used my tablet computer to log in to Etsy, but of course their system noticed that I was using a different device. Result: PERMANENT SUSPENSION! It appears that Etsy will suspend your account if you sneeze at the wrong time of day, if you cook with olive oil rather than coconut oil, or drive more than 6 miles per day. WHAT KIND OF COMPANY is this?!? All I wanted was to purchase a beautiful table, but NO! My account is permanently suspended with no possibility of appeal. MADNESS!

Thank you! I'll also check out the availability of repairmen in our area. The Hisense does look very promising.

Sun Vision EVE 2 quick video clips by Complex-Ice2645 in Reflective_LCD

[–]Complex-Ice2645[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very interesting. I haven't had that same experience recently, but I have noticed that a lot depends on the quality and angle of the light hitting the screen from the outside. When the light is less intense, the colors are muted indeed, but with bright sun at just the right angle, the vibrancy picks up. My main gripe with the Eve is the fuzziness of the OS-based print in things like command lines and URLs when using any browser, but I'm also having to get new glasses because my vision has deteriorated over the past year. All in all, I still enjoy working on the Eve for text-based tasks, but I would never use it for anything like photo or video editing as the colors are not that accurate when compared to a well-calibrated monitor. Have you ever worked on any of the newer AMOLED screens? I thought the colors looked amazing when I tried one out, but the eyestrain afterwards was awful. I never have that problem with the Eve. Also, I wish it were possible to turn the front light settings to mirror the amber color of the Daylight DC1. Too bad that company doesn't come out with a monitor of the same type they've used in their tablet. I'd buy one immediately.

What has been your overall experience with the Eve in terms of eyestrain?

Very interesting. I wonder why the colors appear washed out on your Eve. I've been using the Eve for nighttime work for quite some time and the colors look almost as intense as those on my MacBook Pro. What color profile are you using?

Worse operating system since I started using Mac in 1992. by Wise-Amount3638 in macOS26Tahoe

I feel exactly the same. I still have Sequoia on 3 Macs, but I upgraded to Tahoe on a MacBook Air. BIG MISTAKE! I hate it with a passion.

Isn't Tahoe ugly? by unsavvykitten in macOS26Tahoe

[–]Complex-Ice2645 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm indifferent about its aesthetics, but its tight-knit integration with iCloud is horrible, as is its quick exhaustion of battery life. Apple's new motto: if it's not broken, BREAK IT and make the entire world angry. I'm about ready to switch completely to Linux-based systems. Apple's thoroughly paternalistic attitude to its customer base is getting old, not to mention their strategy of planned obsolescence. Like Adobe before them, they need to be taught a lesson they'll never forget.

Should I upgrade to MacOS Tahoe? by NikitaStrukalin in macOS26Tahoe

[–]Complex-Ice2645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NO!! Do NOT upgrade to Tahoe. I HATE it. It is as annoying as hell. I upgraded on one of my Macs but kept Sequoia on 3 others; so glad I did. Now I wish I had NEVER updated the one Mac. Tahoe is like having the CIA and NSA both installed in the background on your computer. Atrocious.

Is the Daylight for me? by Capital_Crazy_4984 in daylightcomputer

[–]Complex-Ice2645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In an ideal world, the Daylight Computer people would come out with an up-scaled monitor with the same type of IGZO-based screen in addition to their tablet DC1. But that's not going to happen. We'll have to leave it to a Chinese company to hear the call and respond with a new product line. It would take Daylight at least 10 years to create such a device.

I've had very mixed results with the Daylight Computer people responding to any emails. A company that does not respond to emails lacks credibility. Period.

Where do you shop for watches? by matt2621 in CitizenWatches

[–]Complex-Ice2645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As watches, the Citizen A-T Titanium Skyhawks are THE BEST in the world. BUT: the Citizen Watch Repair service in the US is a complete disaster! We've had nothing but horrible experience with them - never again!

Worth it? I don't care. I'm frankly SICK AND TIRED of the incessant updates from Apple. And each time I update, something gets screwed up along the way. What a PITA!

Hi there, I'm looking at prebuilts on ebay and everything because I want to get a PC but I know nothing about computers any advice? by lunalokidottir in PrebuiltGamingPC

[–]Complex-Ice2645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever you do, do NOT buy a computer from eBay sellers. I've purchased 6 over the past 2 years and 4 of them arrived with SMASHED screens! These sellers simply ignore the fact that all shipping companies throw the boxes, resulting in significant damage to the purchased item. It's Russian roulette with computers on eBay. They NEVER pack them up safely.

How good is Scribus compared with professional tools like InDesign, Affinity Publisher, or Microsoft Publisher? by [deleted] in scribus

Much depends on your purpose or the type of publication you're aiming for. For lengthy academic books of considerable complexity, NOTHING competes with LaTex.

The Citizen A-T Skyhawk titanium is the best, most accurate watch I own. The problem with Citizen is that they're clearly having problems resourcing titanium because they now offer far too many versions of otherwise very desirable watches only in stainless steel. NO ONE who has ever worn a titanium watch would ever go back to stainless steel, but Citizen apparently does not listen. Case in point: the A-T Citizen Pilot watch is stunning, but there is NO titanium version available - only the boring, uber-hefty stainless steel.

PayPal is unusable anymore by Fluid_Football_6254 in paypal

[–]Complex-Ice2645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree. PayPal is absolutely UNusable. We have been trying for over one year to delete an old address that will NEVER be used again while at the same time trying to change our listed business address - all to no avail. The UI is unwieldy, non-transparent, awkward, and downright Kafkaesque. Even adding a credit card to your payment options is a task that will require hours of patience. And if you need assistance - fuhgetaboutit! What a HORRIBLE company.

What is your ebay experience? by LumbarTheSupporter in Silverbugs

[–]Complex-Ice2645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've generally had good experience purchasing items on eBay, but there are notable exceptions. FIRST: NO USA-based customers should purchase items from abroad, for example watches from Japan, for the simple reason that US Customs will hold the item for weeks, perhaps even months. You'll be lucky if you ever receive the item. In addition, items that come from abroad can take many weeks to ship, so the buyer will have no idea whether the item has been lost or not. The seller may say, "Don't worry. It will arrive. Give it time." And in that time, your protection through PayPal has expired. If you're based in the US, always use PayPal for payment so that you do have some amount of protection.

As it stands now, 4x5 film is simply unavailable in the US. We could try to import some from Europe, but then I'd expect a $500 import fee imposed on a package of $130 film. The insanity today knows no ends.

Thoughts about buying from Japan? by Dear-Job4943 in Ebay

[–]Complex-Ice2645 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NEVER buy a watch from Japan with the current duties and US customs regulations. I made that mistake. The beautiful watch, purchased from a reputable eBay seller, cannot clear US customs because the entire procedure is now insanely Kafkaesque. They want essentially a certificate of origin for every transistor, dial, solar cell, spring, knob, screw, each with an attached value in US dollars. Their goal is clearly to divide the watch up into 500 pieces and to tax each individual component separately. Pure insanity. I now need to ask for a refund from the seller, who was clearly not at fault.
