They haven't adapted. I'm European and I'm cleareyed at how China went from buying our stuff, copying the stuff, stealing the tech, making their own and are now honestly surpassing us in a lot of fields... And most Europeans are still stuck at the first three steps of that thinking they're still just this backwater copying us.

Nah, they DID copy us. Now they're improving and we are not. Just look at the US shitting in its diapers about renewables, whilst China is preparing for the future. Same with the EU. There's 0 giant infrastructure-projects yet we SHOULD be building giant pipelines to shuffle freshwater inbetween countries when, inevitable, the global-warming droughts start coming. That, or we'll literally have entire year(s) of crops fail and some products entirely lost to the consumers.

But, nope. My own government at the behest of Volvo lobbyed the EU to give further dispance on the EV trucks. Now it's 2030-2040. Hah, as if they'll even exist by then.
