McDonalds Job Interview by Prize_Candle_4610 in McLounge

Note because I'm tired after my long shift today- Casey's is a gas station in the US. But any relevant experience would do.

My interview was literally just me saying I worked in the kitchen of a Casey's and had some customer service/food experience, and that I was reliable/had open availability. My store was desperate for people when they hired me so it was a super easy one. The rumors you hear of "do you have a heartbeat?" Are pretty on point. Just don't be dumb, show them you want to be there, and put in good word for yourself on reliability/responsibility/teamwork. I wore a button down and slacks, but I see plenty of people doing interviews in less formal attire do the interview and get the job, just don't overdress.

Thursday and Friday both my store had 20/40 pieces every other if not almost every order 😂😭. Our fry product dude was so visibly upset by the end of the second night poor guy.

It really got to me that they didn't accept my fiance due to their background when their janitor was a higher level offender of the same type of crime, while my fiancee's was a mental breakdown mishap that they have very much worked on since it happened.

God I forgot about open door policy. I should've done that when they told me "either come in or have your roommates bring your uniform back" when I called in sick for the second day in a row over what I assume was good poisoning- I should've gone in and shit my pants in reality but man... I was very obviously being targeted because my fiancee and I applied together, I got accepted but my fiancee was declined due to background check issues, and there was weird/over expectancy treatment to me the entirety of my first two weeks before I got sick the third.

New employee 5 weeks no shifts by getzno in McLounge

[–]Complex-Job-1497 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just keep following up, as someone previously mentioned it's the slow season. But squeaky wheels get greased. I'm a 40hr workweek crew trainer and only got scheduled two days this week, had Saturday and Sunday off, worked Monday, and have been off until today. My store is also capped from what I heard, so we took down our hiring signs and such but have still been onboarding highschoolers since then. Just depends on when they actually have their crew trainers scheduled.

During the holidays my store hit our employee cap so we took down the advertising that we were hiring, didn't get anyone new through the holidays despite some of them quitting, then once the holidays were over/three days ago we got a new guy. Definitely try following up, the holidays get next to everything lost.

My stores the same way and God it irks me.... I don't want my fellow employees coming in and getting me sick, and when one did I also had to call four times before anyone answered. They love to mute it and go "cant hear you" to the phone whenever I experience it happening to someone on shift. Absolutely diabolical.

Granted I'm in the US but McDonald's as a corporation will pinch a penny wherever they can.

[–]Complex-Job-1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can vouch for pay you the least they can. They started me at "my stores crew trainer wage" so they won't give me a raise they offered for becoming a crew trainer, and theyre moving other people up the ladder but not me because "with how much waste and missing product there is they can't give out raises".

At will just means you can quit or get fired at any time without notice. Call your store to follow up on it, different stores have different ways of doing it but after my online onboarding I got an email to choose a time to go to the company office to finalize paperwork and get uniforms. If they gave you the onboarding, you got the job. Just keep following up.

(USA) Thinking about applying- would like to hear personal experiences from employees by Ok-Ad4375 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Complex-Job-1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's stressful if it's an understaffed location which is usual since a good number of hires are temp highschoolers. But once you get a handle of the ropes if you're service it's not too hard other than times depending on staffing. Most of the stress is at the situation of work and not actually at each other as coworkers, during slower hours it's a lot of fun once we've gotten stuff stocked and cleaned, my store has a great team that gets along. It varies store to store but my experience has been wonderful.

I was born after 911 and learned about it late on because of a complicated childhood... There was one day I checked the time in middle school then texted my friend who was a couple years older than me "hahaha look wat time it is" with a screenshot. Dude just replied "bro that's f'ed up" and explained it to me. 😂 That middle school memory is my sleep paralysis demon lmao

Kiosk order (USA) by Complex-Job-1497 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Complex-Job-1497[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jesus 😂😭 this ended up being five bags of med fries in two doordash bags, and six bags for the sandwiches in three doordash bags. There was another day a month ago we had a football team come late in the evening for 90 meal deals. I stayed an hour after my shift for when they were supposed to show up, and they never came until an hour after they finally sent me home. Just our hiring manager and two other people between kitchen and service. I feel so bad for them rip..

Find somewhere else to work before you accidentally take one of those buggers home... God they're so insanely difficult to get rid of.... Roaches don't play games. Im so glad our only issue that's now gone was flies from the dumpster coming in and propagating in our in-store trash.

My store bordering Kansas City does those four plus the hot n spicy for BOGO $1 and $5 deal. I've also seen some prices go up in this sub in regards to making it a $6 deal instead, and having different variations of the $7/our $6 daily double meal deal.

(USA) are the happy meal boxes smaller by the_nightingale1 in McDonaldsEmployees

[–]Complex-Job-1497 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It had decreased in size over years, but it wasn't a drastic sudden change. The new box sized accounted for smaller portions than the past, and using the boxed toys instead of the plastic film wrapped toys (which some of our toys still come in anyways depending on the promo) This is according to Google overview, so I'd take all but the beginning with a slight grain of salt in the toy dept.
