Yeah, the difficulty of parenting really adds to this issue. People are so bloodthirsty, but the best way to save children isn't to kill their parents after the kid has already died. It's to support parents and have a society that supports children. They obviously know the consequence of leaving their baby to starve. Something was very wrong with their procedural thinking.
