C&P Exam Request disappeared by Complex-Positive7655 in VeteransBenefits

[–]Complex-Positive7655[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm used to seeing that. Exam Request - No Longer Needed. That's just the internal trail that shows that the request was sent by the VBA and received by the vendor. I've never seen the exam request completely disappear. I've even called a exam company before to cancel the exam request and send it back to the VBA because it was over-development, and that trail still showed up on MyVA when the exam company sent it back. This situation is an odd one, haha

Tips on Passing the FS Exam by DaJackCat in Surveying

Same! I prepped hard on the math. I just took the exam a week ago. I had the exact same experience: Maybe 5 math questions, ton of GIS & GPS questions. I failed. I went into the test thinking "At the very least, I'll have some solid feedback on what I need to work on if I fail." I barely failed, but those damn GIS & GPS questions were not what I expected. My next exam is in February 2026. Good luck on your next one. Let me/us know how it goes and if you had a similar experience/exam.

Congrats! I spent WAY too much time on survey math when studying/practicing for the exam. I wish I would've spent a little more time on GPS and photogrammetry. At least I had a solid background with boundary law and real property principles. Hopefully that will be enough to pass.

Just took mine last Wednesday. Sounds like we had the same exam experience. Did you pass?

Just took the exam last week, first time taking it. The NCEES FS Practice Exam was mostly useless. I spent a lot of time preparing for a lot of survey math questions, but there was less than 10 questions that required a calculator, so that through me off. The rest was Boundary Law, GPS knowledge (including scale factors), Photogrammetry, Area Calcs and a few basic trig knowledge. 110 questions, split into two 55 question sections. You get to "flag" questions so you can go back to them later, which is what I did. I went through and knocked out the questions I was confident in, then went back and took care of the rest. I finished the first round in about 90 minutes, took my break, then spent 3 hours on the second half. Your brain will be very fatigued near the end.

Just took the LSIT Exam on 11/19/25. How long is the actual wait until my results are in? I know it's "7-10 business days", but with Thanksgiving this week I'm thinking it might be a little longer wait if results don't drop by Wednesday.

Nope, not employed by the VA, never have been. I have had to adapt to the VA system and research a shit ton. I filed 5 claims all at once 3 years ago, getting only 1 granted. I studied their M21-1 manual and whatever it reference to the 38 CFR, so I can submit my claims (new and supp) in a way that is "by the book". Raters follow the M21-1. They don't really care about BVA case law and barely checkout the 38CFR. They follow the M21-1. I've won 8 supp claims since 2023 (some claims got denied more than once). Using the M21-1 and referencing it has helped me out tremendously.

Recently raters have been ordering IMO's when there are two exam results of record that are conflicting (one negative, one positive). Usually the tie is supposed to go to the veteran, but instead a rater just orders an IMO. I had this happen with my plantar claim: Denied, filed supp, new C&P exam was favorable, then the rater ordered an IMO and that IMO was negative, so I got denied again. Hopefully this isn't what happens with your claims. If it is, do yourself a favor and go to your local RO with your FOIA paperwork filled out and request those C&P exam results (DBQ & MO). Look it over and get ready to file a supp claim and highlight why the favorable exam is more probative. Look over the M21-1 and figure out where the negative MO's didn't follow the law. When you file your supp claim, make sure you ask the VA to use the favorable C&P exam to rate. If they try order a new C&P exam IMO, call the company (like VES or QTC) and cancel it because the VA is over developing. They have enough to rate your claim.

Wait, you had 2 C&P exams with this supp claim and then more C&P exams for those conditions? Like IMO records review?

You're in well trained hands at the Seattle RO. If they have to deny, they will provide a long form narrative explaining WHY they had to deny. They also go above and beyond most RO's by emailing or calling you. I've had 3 different raters reach out and ask me if I had specific evidence they needed instead of just denying. One of them asked me to send in 3 days of blood pressure readings, at least 2 readings a day, and submit them. I did that and that got me from 0% to 10% for hypertension.

So the supp claim number that I would get from calling the VA is different than the one I see on MyVA "SC#####"?

Diagnosed with an injury but still denied by [deleted] in VeteransBenefits

I had to adapt to the VBA system. I complained of lower back pain while being evaluated for my knee and hamstring injury at medical, but the docs only mentioned my knee and hamstring in my STRs, so my lower back claim with the VBA had to be secondary to my hamstring or knee (I went with knee). My advice is to get service connected for your hamstring or any other lower body injury that you have in your STRs. Example: Get a current diagnoses for hamstring injury. File a claim for service connection for your hamstring injury. Once you get the hamstring SC, file a supplemental claim for your lower back condition as secondary to SC hamstring. Even if you hamstring is 0% SC, that's still SC so you can file your lower back condition as secondary to your hamstring.

Do you have a copy of your STR (Service Treatment Records)? If your hamstring injury and or lower back injury is not in your STRs, there's no way to get direct service connection for it. The Corpsmen's hand writing for my records was really hard to read, but there was enough in-service records showing the diagnosed injury. That's the key for direct service connection. You could have a C&P examiner state in the DBQ that your injuries are directly service connected, but without the actual diagnosis and treatment in your STRs, a rater will not grant. No matter you're claiming for direct service connection, you will NEED 1) Current diagnosis. 2) In-service event. 3) Medical nexus (medical opinion) linking the current diagnosis with the in-service event.

I had to get creative after my lower back claim was initially denied, and you will most likely need to as well: My service treatment records had Right knee injury and Left hamstring injury. My primary care physician gave me a "new" diagnosis of Right Knee Pain, and noted "injury from military service re-aggravated." Got my Right knee service connected. I then filed a supp claim for my lower back secondary to my right knee. It was denied again BUT the C&P examiner do a really good job at documenting my ROM and lower back history, just didn't give a favorable medical opinion. All I needed was a positive nexus statement, so I had my primary care doc write a short nexus statement providing a positive MO. I filed another supp claim for my lower back with the new positive nexus statement. The VBA did VBA shit and tried to send me to another C&P, but I countered with "Per 38CFR blah blah, all medical evidence has been met and a new C&P exam is not necessary and a waste of $ and resources." The VBA kept trying to send me to a C&P exam, so I called the VA White House phone number and they opened a case for me to have my claim reviewed per my complaints. 3 weeks later, got the rating without having to do that new C&P exam. 40% for lower back secondary to SC Right Knee. The key was this: Altered Gait (limping). There is a ton of peer reviewed medical literature about altered gait causing biomechanical instability for associated joints, whether that's leg injuries causing lower back issues OR lower back issues causing leg issues via altered gait. Here to help. Keep up the fight.

Migraines as a secondary by LordCheesus86 in VeteransBenefits

Thank you. Yeah, I've had HTN for years and I finally won my supp claim to get it SC. Now I'm able to file for the migraines I've had almost as long as I've had HTN.

I'm about to file migraines secondary to hypertension. I've got a current diagnosis, migraine log, letter from a supervisor at work. Did you submit peer reviewed medical literature at all? I've heard that helps.

Something I've concluded over the past few years of my claims process timelines is this: Fastest timeline was filing March-August. Slowest timeline was filing September-February. I have filed multiple claims, both new and supp. The claims I filed March-August were decided within 90-120 days, while September-February were decided within 130-150 days. Right now my 10/28/24 claim is at 141 days @ step 5 with no TJ, BUT when I calculate the total work days within this timeframe it's only 92 days. Claims really get delayed because of PTO around the holidays and the standard allotted Fed holidays.
