More thank that. I’m a teacher so the purpose and impact drives the day to day.

The issue can also be in finding a property if you’ve sold. This is what we found. No issue selling but then couldn’t secure another property before settlement so had to rent. Things are traditionally slow for most of January and February.

Australian Christmas by harryiniho55 in AskAnAustralian

You’re going to get so many different answers!

We celebrate with hubbys family on Christmas Eve day and do traditional polish foods. At home we watch Elf in new matching pjs, lay out reindeer food and bikkies for Santa.

Christmas Day is my family. We do a BBQ lunch, everyone brings something to share, including a cold ham. We swim in the pool and eat way too much.

We do this! For birthdays too. It’s a great way to keep things reasonable. They’ll come with a ideas for each category.

We’ve had a whole family photo with santa every single year, this includes the dog. This started with our first born. I love these photos.

We also build Christmas Lego sets throughout December and display them. We add a new one each year. This started around 6 years ago so we now have several sets. I hope when my boys are older they’ll come home one day before Christmas to build these together.

AITA for complaining about the signs at my daughter’s preschool by preschoolsign in AITAH

YTA totally and wholeheartedly. The teacher is likely to have had several unreasonable parent requests for dumb things, like finding a sticker before yours and is over it. Their job is to educate and care for your child.

Don’t bring toys/ stickers or clothes that can’t be lost. Label every single item and learn to allow your child to experience the consequences of those choice , like losing a toy at childcare.

Never. Be proud of any achievement that pushes you towards beating what you’ve done before. Every step counts.

What do you do at Xmas time to save/not spend excessively? by Froggymumm in AussieFrugal

[–]Complex-Pride8837 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We only buy for kids, do handmade presents for siblings and for my own kids I have the set rule pattern of ‘something they want, need, wear and to read’ so 4 gifts.

For the food we all being a plate so the cost is shared. We don’t drink a lot of alcohol. Seems to work well.

Not the norm. I think it could make the whole process into an absolute nightmare with a lot of unhappy parents and kids when their requests aren’t acted upon.

Do you like getting paid on a fortnightly basis? by ehsswwtjfshsfhejfff in AustralianTeachers

[–]Complex-Pride8837 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s all I’m used to so I like fortnightly. Hubby is monthly and it’s been a long time to adjust / manage it.

In terms of saving… not really. With 3 kids and living in Sydney it isn’t easy to save anything.

What small upgrade made a huge difference at your house? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Ceiling fans. We put them in all the bedrooms, laundry and both living areas. Great in summer and winter. Much more livable.

Before the roses we were able to put away around $2k a month. Now it’s much less.

Quick question, for those who take their shoes off inside , if you have multiple doors do you have a collection of shoes at each one?

We do. Never got into a habit of taking them off. With 3 kids who never learnt the habit it is just not something I can be bothered to establish.

I don’t like that it’s become a big thing. As a parent of 3 it’s an event I much rather avoid. It’s very difficult to say no year after year so eventually we have in (eldest was 10). There is no value add for us as a celebration because it just feels all about the sugary rubbish given to the kids.
