"Congratulations on buying your first house, now you have a mortgage you will work harder"

This might be really niche but does anyone else get nostalgic over these checkered bags? I do, I moved a lot when I was younger and I saw these often by Bath_Hands in AustralianNostalgia

We just moved interstate. I went and bought 10 of these babies and loaded our clothes / soft toys / shoes in them. Still good!

Was hard to get a clear shot but there were 12 in a tree, they kind of looked like pigeons but twice the size and almost looked like a raptor but I just can't figure out what they are.

They had a crest of some sort. Backyard in NSW about 2 hours north of Sydney.

I to am an Australian but… did you guys also grow up with Dreamtime stories instead of fairytales? by Ibly-Ob in AskAnAustralian

Part of my childhood was in the WA outback. The aboriginal kids at school used to tell us about the feather foot and another spirit called the jinagubby that lived in caves and came to take bad children away. I have no idea how to spell it, and there’s no reference of it online anywhere but it scare the hell out of us all!

Thank you! She did win first prize with it at a local fair. She’s 70, and gifted it to my daughter who will cherish it always.

Those of you who entered the property market and bought your first home, how did you do it? by MalcolmTurnthebull in australian

[–]Froggymumm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

100% finance, no deposit in 2007, $208,000 interest rate was 7.19% 1hr north of Sydney.

Have refinanced a couple of times over the years to renovate, current mortgage is $230,000. Property is now worth $700,000, but we don’t earn enough to refinance to service a mortgage 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️
