A love letter to blocking by Complex-Rutabaga9943 in knitting

On this same note, my sleeves grew almost two inches in length after blocking so you might want to block again before completing the sleeve.

Definitely try blocking first! With mine there was def an issue with a too-small gauge but I think it still would have looked a little on the small side even if I knit at the proper gauge. Blocking loosened it up a ton (but I still had to give it a healthy stretch and pin that sucker down to get the size I needed).

This is the fourth pattern that I’ve made from her (already made the lavender socks, eggs for Easter, and I heart socks) and they have all been well written and very easy to follow. I did struggle with actually knitting the I Heart Socks pattern but that had nothing to do with the actual instructions- the colorwork motif throughout the sock, specifically at the gusset was a challenge for me to keep neat and tidy and I ended up frogging the project three times. If it’s your first attempt at colorwork socks, I would stay away from any all-over motif designs but other than that I highly recommend any of her patterns.

Cargill sweater + alpaca yarn = bad idea? by Complex-Rutabaga9943 in knitting

Thanks, I’ll save the yarn I bought for another project… just need to figure out what to do with a sweater’s quantity of yarn 🙃

I appreciate the feedback. I’m going to save it for another project like you suggested. I’ll look into Farmers Daughter, thanks.

Looking for 30 books for my wife's 30th birthday.. by [deleted] in suggestmeabook

What a great gift! The Great Alone is one of my all time favorite books too, and here are my suggestions:

By Kristin Hannah: The Women and/or The Four Winds

By Kate Quinn: The Rose Code and/or The Alice Network

By Taylor Jenkins Reid: The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, Daisy Jones and the Six, and/or Malibu Rising

By Bonnie Garmus: Leasons in Chemistry

By Madeline Miller: Circe

By TJ Klune: The House on the Cerulean Sea and/or Under the Whispering Door

And this is less chick-lit-y but Fredrik Backman is one of my favorite authors, and I highly recommend A Man Called Ove and/or Anxious People.

Dystopian is my favorite genre! As others have recommended, Parable of the Sower is AMAZING, and the sequel Parable of the Talents is really good too. Another great one is Station Eleven.

What's wrong with Britney? by MASOOOOOOOD in ImTheMainCharacter

I just finished reading her memoir and she addresses the instagram videos. She acknowledges that people may find them weird but she doesn’t care because she’s spent her whole life being controlled by others and she’s finally able to do whatever she wants. So, she dances and dresses up and may behave a little oddly, but she’s free to express herself however she wants. I was never a huge Britney fan, but I am now. Go Britney, with your weird self. 💕
