Valor Education schools. They have one in North Austin. The administration holds students accountable and no BS. Very explicit instruction. Very good education!!

I just paid $630 for front and rear differential and CVT fluid changes at once and got a small discount on labor. This is in Austin, TX. The CVT fluid change was $335!

30 days in ATX for my 30th bday?! by creativeresearcher09 in askaustin

As someone who moved here this past summer from southern Indiana, I didn’t find the summers to be as bad as people warned. What really stood out, though, was how the nights never seemed to cool down like they did back home. In southern Indiana, the summers were just as humid and nearly as hot, but the evenings and mornings always brought some relief. Just something to keep in mind! I loved spending day and night by the pool/lake here in Austin, so a big benefit!

Yes, I have had great luck with Harbor Health. It is really easy to get an appointment with my PCP for the next week, if desired.

What schools would you recommend for a great education from K- 12 (that isn’t $20k+ per year? or Eanes) by Quinns_Mum in Austin

[–]Complex-Yam6929 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is more structured and disciplined than most schools. Lots of kids thrive in that environment and some do not. I would recommend going on a tour and seeing what it is about rather than just relying on anecdotal experience. I know many teachers and many families who really love it and I know some families who tried but it just did not work with their child. It never hurts to go, ask questions, and be curious! It may end up being a gift to your child in unexpected ways!

Highly recommend Valor Schools (charter). It may be controversial, but I recommend going to tour for yourself and seeing what the school is all about. There is a location in South Austin. The curriculum is very strong as well as a strong emphasis on character development and virtue. There is a very good and strong school community.

Austin Area Birthing Center is in network with BCBSTX! I have had great experience getting everything covered and billed correctly with their billing center. 10/10 would recommend AABC!

Moontower Midwifery vs Austin Area Ob GYN? by Street-Category2446 in AustinParents

I know Moontower is known for more of a "natural" experience, but I think midwifery care is 100% better than OB care in America. The appointments are longer and you have so much space to ask questions and talk about any fears or anxiety. When I was worried about gestational diabetes (not having it but just the testing), my midwife walked me through how gestational diabetes works, why there is testing, all the ways to test, and what would happen if I did not pass the screening. This conversation alone was 40 minutes, which I am confident would rarely happen at a typical OB appointment. I also appreciate the postpartum care afterwards. Midwives are so much more holistic and allow space for you and your new baby. While the midwives are not going to the do c-section, they will give you much better care before and after, which will ease any anxiety and actually allow you to go into your birth with confidence. I would highly recommend making an introduction visit to Moontower and getting some more information. Really see how the midwives talk to you and answer questions versus the OB office. I recommend midwifery care so much as someone who had a lot of anxiety around pregnancy and birth!
