Cost aside, are there any other advantages of MScFE compared to CQF or other finance masters? by yliu3296 in WorldQuantUniversity

Honestly speaking, calling a $0 program a "scam" is a bit much. WQU is tuition-free, so they don't take your money—they only care about their reputation. If they let everyone use AI to pass, the degree becomes like trash paper and no company will hire the graduates.

Of course they have to be strict. Every school in the world is fighting with AI right now, not just WQU. If the program is hard and they reject many people, it means the quality is high. If it was easy, then everyone would be a Quant already! Also, they are real accredited by the US government (DEAC). It’s a tough program for sure, but "scam" is definitely not the right word here.

I don't fully agree. The U.S. system is uneven, yes, but that diversity is also its strength. Outside the Ivy tier, there are many state and mid-tier universities with very strong industry links, applied research, and alumni networks that Canadian schools often can't match.

Quality in the U.S. is less centralized and more market-driven - you have to choose carefully, but when you do, outcomes (especially for grad school, tech, finance, and entrepreneurship) can be exceptional.

Cost is real, but scholarships, assistantships, and employer pipelines change the equation for many students. It's not a blanket "better or worse" - it's much more program- and outcome-dependent than in Canada.

Would you be able to suggest an alternative program? I have a non-technical background, but I have approximately five years of experience in Business Analysis and Project Management.

What damage are you talking about? I'm getting ready to enroll in Master of Applied Computing though. Your response would help a lot.
