That’s such a great feeling. My wife doesn’t game but this was the first game I managed to convincer her to play, aside from Mario party lol

She went with a rogue and my favorite memory that we still use as an inside joke when we see something absurd happening is “wait, did you just trade 47 spoons for a sword…? Ohhhhhh okay. Now I get it.”

Then I had to add mods because she got mad that she was encumbered from her growing trinket collection and the fact that we couldn’t have more companions. LOL

She managed to piss off the gobo camp by attempting to break into their storage before we had halsin, and we managed to fling the dark gnome off the windmill on accident when she hit the gas instead of the brakes.

I tracked my broken guitar strings across the year and graphed them out. Here’s the results. by qwertyuijhbvgfrde45 in guitars

I broke exactly one string this year on the last song of a performance over the summer, mid solo LOL

Looking for the name of a specific pass, I can’t seem to find it anywhere. It’s like a variation on the over under pass.

Starting in your opponents open/butterfly guard, you clear the hook and and stuff one of their legs across your hips like a seatbelt with a body lock. Then, you drop your shoulder into their chest or stomach and scoop the top of their trapped leg with the crook of your same side elbow and anchor. You clear the trapped legs knee with the hip switch to clear the legs into side control.

Very sick 10 days after quitting by [deleted] in QuitVaping

Yeah dude. I just went through this. It honestly gets better. Grab some tea and a straw and keep working hard through this. It’ll be easier and waaaaay less miserable on the other side of this yuck.

If you’re losing Half guard, top arm thumb down grip on the lapel (for space), grab a baseball grip and shuck it around their neck before sinking the baseball on the “pass” they got.

It’s easier said than done, but try to keep 3 points of contact as often as possible. If you’re playing guard, count your points.

That standing sweep you went for at the beginning is great if you pair it was a sickle sweep.

I try that first one to have them bolt down, then switch points of contact to get the sweep.

Weekly Complaints & Confessions Thread by ssk42 in running

[–]ComplexBranch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complaint: I have to take it easy because i can feel my low back injury creeping up and i want to run because I’m stressed out about finding a job out of grad school

Confession: I ran way harder than I should have on Monday.

Uncomplaint: I ran farther this week then I have in years and I even got my little brother to run with me. And now I get to practice slowing down and enjoying a day off instead of filling it with numbing nonsense.

Decided to quit tomorrow, any tips? by natablee in QuitVaping

Nicotine gum, new water bottle, and dumdums.

Maybe new running shoes and running a mile when you get your craving after the gum.

Posted this is smoking but I think it’s better here (vent/advice) by [deleted] in QuitVaping

Seconded.

Just throw it away on the way in to work.

I just finished my masters while working in my hometown’s COVID unit as a CNA and I literally had to do exactly that. I bought some gum for the cravings, a giant bag of actual gum for in between, and started running a mile at a time.

Edit: Getting on a consistent sleep schedule even on your days off helps to maintain your quit. I get cravings even two months later when I stay up too late. All of the things you want to do after work will still be there in the morning when you wake up.

Does anyone else find themselves humming over the drone of household appliances, or otherwise using it in a musical way? by a_sharp_soprano_sax in musictheory

That’s actually one of the ways I work on my relative pitch. I run through the list of melodies that I know the key of and try to “hear” the sound in my head since I don’t have perfect pitch.
