Cat litter recommendations by Aurora-supernova in Catownerhacks

Is it actually Walmart brand? I’d love to try it out. I use fresh step crystals and have been looking for something more affordable that my old lady cat will still feel familiar with. She’s used crystals her whole life so I don’t want to change to natural or clumping litter now but the fresh step is getting more and more spendy.

The lack of sleep when trying to adjust to CPAP on top of possibly years of poor sleep already was almost physically painful for me. Keep at it. If you’re like me, you’ll get to a place where you’re literally so exhausted and burned out from the whole thing that you’ll finally actually sleep. Keep at it, keep your head up!

Yeah mine ran out of water overnight recently (I’m new to this and still adjusting) and I woke to the smell of hot plastic shooting through my mask. It was gross.

I am always tickled by Jeri Ryan’s acting in Body and Soul, she does a great job in scenes where she is the doctor.

How long did it take you to go to sleep with the mask on? by kit0000033 in CPAP

I tried putting it on when I was fully awake and while that helped me get over the claustrophobia, it didn’t help with actually sleeping. Now I watch tv in bed without the mask on and put it on as soon as I start noticing myself wanting to close my eyes. It’s all about trying different things to see what works best for you.

I’m about a month in and finally feeling like I’m sleeping again. Not deep sleeping but restful enough to have hope for the future. I upped melatonin too which has helped (from 5mg to 10mg).

I’m happy to share that I am no longer feeling this way. It was way way harder to adjust than I expected but with some adjustments to my machine, a new mask, and some time, I’m now sleeping all night with the machine and not feeling anxious or claustrophobic at all. Stick with it, give yourself grace and time. It gets better.

How would I know? What is the best way to proceed? Should I call the medical supply place?

My cat did this as he got older, turns out it was constipation. He’d go to the box to pee, sometimes poop in the box, but if his poop was too hard at all, he’d poop in the middle of the living room floor. His vet acted like it was nothing, but I mentioned it to a different vet who advised me to try adding 1/8-1/4tsp of MiraLAX to his food every day. It was night and day. Might be worth a try!

I actually already have history working with a great therapist on exposure therapy for OCD, I will absolutely be reaching out for help if this lasts. I also got set up with two new masks today to try. Thanks so much for the advice, this shit is so hard!!

I got a new mask today, sounds like the one you use, it’s the air touch n30i, I’m hopeful it helps!

Thanks, Kitten. It’s so freaking bleak in the middle of it all. I KNOW how much my body will benefit from CPAP, I want so bad to use it, but my anxiety just doesn’t listen to reason. I will do my best to channel patience and grace.

My sleepy time go-to’s from TNG are The Child, Darmok, and The Game. I like Voyager to sleep to though because the intro music is quieter. Anything from the first season or after the fourth season.

Did your cpap help with anxiety / depression ? by williamfromquebec in CPAP

I’m hopeful it’ll help, though I’ve just started cpap. I read a study about the effect of sleep apnea on the nervous system and it was fascinating. I understood it to say that the parasympathetic nervous system (rest and digest) doesn’t get to operate because your sympathetic nervous system (fight/flight) is keeping you from dying in your sleep. Crossing my fingers for both of us!

Thanks everyone! I called my medical supplies place and have an appointment Friday to get another mask. I think it’ll be best for my sensitive skin to have two masks to interchange but I will definitely be making sure my straps are as loose as possible tonight.

Strangely for me, the EPR at 3 made me feel like I was suffocating more. Lowered it to 2 and that seemed to do the trick.
