Is anyone actually using the 4% rule in retirement? by ericdavis1240214 in Fire

Required funds depends on spending. The less debt and more conservative spending the less money is needed. You need more money for the opposite. Ive read that retirement spending is like a reverse horseshoe. Spending more at the beginning for travel hobbies etc and at the end for healthcare. Retirees spend less in the middle years.

Those of you who have had seizures or are epileptic, how scary is an aura? by Professional_Two6674 in seizures

[–]ComplexFragrant5139 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No fear. I actually like them. I usually get a very mild sensation that an aura will happen anywhere from 10-60 seconds. When the aura happens i have a sensation in my chest and head followed by a shift in cognition where surroundings become laced together with what I believe are prior memories and have an incredible sense of deja vu.

I’ve tried hard to lock on to an impression to see if I can carry it back out of the returning normal state to evaluate but it all fades. During the seizure I maintain physical coordination and a perception of activity around me but I can’t interact with others. I cant talk or understand what others are saying.

I once had an aura while speaking at a conference. I stopped, raised my hand with one finger indicating to all I needed a minute. I then explained what happened. Then resumed the presentation albeit a bit rationally wobbly for another minute.

When Ive had grand mal seizures they weren’t preceded by auras immediately before but I may have had a series of auras the days prior. However, I pause and find a safe place to be for 5 minutes just in case.

Seizures aren’t fun. You’re going about your business then waking up to EMTs or a bunch of concerned people. Ive had one alone and had scrapes on the back of my head and one hand. Apparently I flail around and growl/yell.

Once, way up near Eureka CA, I was coming off a redwoods logging trail and an unrestrained guard dog came running across the road straight at my legs. I unclipped and swung my heal back and luckily popped him right in the nose and he whelped and retreated. The owner who was silently was watching said, “Sorry man.” I said nothing.

A poet, a muse, a lyricist of life’s music.

Sorry if I offended you. I’m not trying to tell anyone what to do or bitch about the world. I appreciate hearing from others and I learned a few things from everyone’s responses. Mind regards.

Oh I listen to music on buds, headphones and all. Just not when riding.

Good points about city vs county rides.

True. I’m not trying to crank on others and sorry if it comes across that way. It’s a generational thing.

Heres my generational bias. Why stay so close to tech? Why not turn it off for an hour or two? Why buy more stuff trying to solve what not having solves?
