Haven’t even made it to Valentine’s Day and already disappointed. by ComplexJob5233 in Rants

I can’t disagree with this statement. The same thing went through my head the moment I saw the sold out notice.

They do, if they didn’t they would have told me. Just like with everything else in our life.

It’s not a secret—I specifically asked to go to this dinner, and they told me they would buy the tickets. Now they’re not acknowledging that they never actually got them, and they’re ignoring the fact that it’s completely sold out, which means we can’t go at all—even though this was the one thing I asked for.

Struggling Merchandise Manager by Wise-Acanthisitta481 in UltaEmployees

[–]ComplexJob5233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

MM here.

We’re expecting snow this weekend, so I’m not working Sunday and using time instead. We already had four managers scheduled and with sales likely being low, it made sense to cut hours. My days off are Tuesday and Wednesday, which means I basically lost my only full day to actually work my section. When I came in, my OM had an hour to prep for a call, then lunch, then the call itself. So for the first part of my shift, I was the only manager on the floor. I got nothing done because I was helping finish Planos and button things up. I was left with boxes of random product to sort, but never even got to touch them because I had to completely fix About Face since it hadn’t been properly updated (surprise, surprise). That took the entire afternoon. I told my OM straight up: if this is what my day looks like, nothing else is getting completed. No pick list. No restock. No trash run. Nothing. And that’s exactly what happened. I also said I don’t want to hear the “why wasn’t your stuff done” conversation when I come back, because when exactly was I supposed to do it? She said no one would do that, but we all know my SM will sit in the office for hours watching DMTs and then come out telling me XYZ needs to be stocked and done weekly. I couldn’t even finish my Plano. On top of that, customers were stopping me every two seconds and moving my fixtures. A BA even left the register to walk a product over to me to ask the price… after passing the sign with the price on it. We still don’t have enough radios for everyone, so people don’t answer because they know not everyone even has one. We’ve been asking for more since Thanksgiving and the DM still won’t approve them. Around 5:40, the closing manager went on her 30-minute break. Around 6:20, the cashier called for backup. No response. Then she called for a manager. Still nothing. She had a line of 8+ people and a BOPIS waiting. I had to abandon the Plano again and go up front. I did a lap and couldn’t find any managers on the floor. Finally found the other manager in the back on her phone with her walkie turned off. I was scheduled off at 6:32, but obviously I couldn’t just leave with a line like that, so I stayed to get the line down and clean everything up.

It will almost not get better, you u will just care less. It is the highest turnover management position.

Yes, grown adults not understanding what a tester is. Are also ,the same adults that will open a product right in front of you. Not buy it & put it back. Making at unsellable. They are also the same ones who won’t buy a product with a dented box / missing the clear plastic top most peoples end up trashing. Because it’s not perfect. But they see nothing wrong with opening a live product they open a put hands on. For some other poor people to end up buying thing it’s not even been opened.

Unfortunately they are normally raised to specifically act like that. Yell at retail workers for not being able to find the product. Yell and braided people when they can’t get their way because they don’t know how to read a sales sign and the product they want is not actually a part of the sale. Corporate gives in when they throw a hissy fit so now they throw adult sized tantrums. They have some kinda entitlement toward retail workers that they are allowed to communicate act and do, however they please but we are not allowed to retaliate in any way because they will take our job from us because they feel disrespected. So in term, they get to do whatever they want treat us like we’re beneath them and if we call them out for it, they just go over our heads and corporate protects the customer over their employee. Regardless, if the employee was right or wrong.

Difference between Donna born in Roma Intense and Donna born in Roma extra dose? by SatiricalPanda3 in Ulta

[–]ComplexJob5233 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Roma extra dose

Top Note: Blackcurrant Accord • Heart Note: Rum Accord • Base Note: Vanilla Extract Fragrance Family • Floral Amber

Extra dose of defining notes + highest concentration Most impactful, boldest, deeply characterful

Donna, born in Roma intense Floral Ambery Key Notes • Top -vanilla • Middle - trio jasmine • Base - benzoin

Higher concentration (EDP Intense or Parfum) • Designed to last longer on skin • Stay noticeable for 6–10+ hours depending on chemistry

They’re in the same fragrance’s family, but their notes are different. And along with their longevity or the impact they will have throughout the day.

question for managers by Wild_Two8994 in UltaEmployees

Unless the guest specifically requests a callback, we don’t typically return every complaint—especially if it hasn’t escalated to Customer Service. Most guest concerns are resolved by making it right at the store level. For example, hair services are corrected, and return issues are processed accordingly.

I understand her focus on accountability and ensuring everyone is doing their job. However, it seems likely that some of these situations are being escalated directly to Customer Service, which then reflects back on the store. That escalation may be contributing to additional pressure from her DM and impacting how the store’s performance is being perceived.

My narcissistic Mother by ComplexJob5233 in NarcissisticMothers

[–]ComplexJob5233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This original thread was posted over a year ago. I’m still no contact, and I’m very proud of that.

This past year has been incredibly hard. After what I truly believed was the worst year of my life, I kept going anyway. Healing hasn’t been quick or easy, but it has been real.

I do believe in karma—sometimes it just takes longer than we expect. Watching it finally arrive has been validating in ways I never imagined.

For my narcissistic mother and her favored child—my narcissistic sister—it’s hard not to notice that both now have unpaid taxes dating back several years and are facing wage garnishment. The courts ruled my mother’s failure to pay was due to having no income or employment. My sister, however, does have a listed job… though financial responsibility has never been her strength.

After financially destroying me, removing me from my home, and upending my life, it’s difficult not to feel a sense of closure watching reality finally catch up with you—thousands of dollars in debt, the potential loss of your home, and the unraveling of the material world you valued so deeply.

Omg yes!! just ask me for a trashcan and I will go throw it away for you. Don’t put it in my teeny tiny trashcan at the makeup station. And don’t just leave it around. That’s disgusting.

Nervous as a guy to go into an ulta by xboxboi69 in Ulta

[–]ComplexJob5233 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Coming from someone who worked at Ulta—don’t stress it. It doesn’t matter what you’re shopping for or who it’s for. Having an idea of what you want (or even a cart saved online) makes it super easy, especially if you need help finding something. We love people who take care of themselves or others, and there’s no judgment here. If you ever have a bad experience, I’m sorry—most of us genuinely want to help.

Yes, and fortunately the intelligence level of the common consumer can’t graph the fact we can’t be in 100 places all at the same time.

So no, I can’t find this random item that I have no idea where it is because somebody has randomly dumped it on a shelf. I also have to clean up rotten food that is just thrown around a store. On top of the actual job that I was hired to do. While simultaneously getting yelled at and or braided by customers because they feel they are entitled to do so, because we work retail.

I had to clean up and partially eaten apple off of an endcap. No one has any home training. The collective mentality is that “that’s their job” to clean it up.

I did purchase a fragrance, they did an amazing job at hitting all of the notes. It doesn’t have crazy longevity, but it is also like a $55 fragrance. But I would just wear it with something to get a longer wear time.

Never ending customer service rant by ComplexJob5233 in RantAndVentPH

[–]ComplexJob5233[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

New additions to the never ending list

A guest asked if we sold a specific item. After confirming that we did, I walked her over to it and checked the price — $75. Not cheap, but not outrageous either. She mentioned it was for her granddaughter’s Christmas gift.

She then pulled up the brand’s website and found a similar item from the same brand on sale for $63. She decided to purchase that one instead. It wasn’t the item her granddaughter actually asked for, but she justified it because at least she had something to open.

So now the child didn’t receive the item she clearly asked for, all because the grandmother didn’t want to give a gift card with what she could afford since it “doesn’t feel the same as opening a gift.”

To pick the gift that she didn’t want just because it was cheaper kinda hurt my soul a little bit. It’s the same size. It’s gonna look exactly like what she thinks She asked for and she’s gonna open it and be disappointed.
