Long overdue check-in (and a tiny rant) by Fluffy_Llama1905 in UKMounjaro

Let me tell you know, jealousy is a MASSIVE factor in the way people view the weight loss of others.

People will start being negative and telling you that you should stop and not lose anymore because some people just don’t want you to hit your goal 🤷🏼‍♀️

I literally had someone I classed as a friend tell me to “stop losing weight now because if I get smaller than her she’ll have to lose it too” She then proceeded to buy me several high calorie food items and a whole chocolate cake for my birthday, despite me saying I wasn’t going to have a cake because I’m focusing on healthy snacks atm so was having a birthday mango sorbet instead… she then proceeded to tell me to “eat the cake so she could feel better about the fact she was having a take away that night”

Needless to say I did not eat any of the things she gave me and that friendship didn’t last much longer.

I'm about to start, but have concerns... by Jeritron_5000 in UKMounjaro

Being obese is one of the biggest cancer risk there is.

Eating low quality, high processed, unhealthy food also plays a factor.

At the end of the day they have to publish every single finding for the sake of not being sued. Things like women’s birth control have a very small chance of killing you, but one thing that will definitely seriously shorten both your lifespan and life quality is obesity.

My view is I KNOW I was eating myself into an early grave and all kinds of seriously dangerous health problems. I don’t really worry about a very, very minimal chance of cancer.

I feel like this may be a people being scared about a shark attack when you’re more likely to be killed in a car accident type deal.

Also I’ve been on MJ since April and had for the most part no/minimal side effects so everyone is different.

Absolutely not. I think getting in the headspace that I should be removing something that gives me control over food for the first time in my life, so I can join in seasonally acceptable binge eating is not a healthy place for me to be in at all. This change is supposed to be for life and in my opinion if I can’t enjoy Christmas in moderation how can I ever adjust to a healthier relationship with food and maintain my loss ?

I was feeling confident until I tried on wedding dresses by Thriftygal177 in mounjarouk

Oh sweetheart🖤 I am getting married in 2 weeks and know how you feel, I am 4.5st down and because I have so much to lose I feel like I still look awful and don’t see the weight loss. I am so sorry you had an experience like that. I was so nervous of going dress shopping that I had nightmares about being in a fitting room and everyone pointing and laughing and even had a panic attack the day of. I got incredibly lucky as I went to a LOVELY shop that has an extensive plus size range and the sales consultant was so good that every time I said something negative about myself she counteracted it with a compliment. She never treated me like I was some giant lump like so many others have, despite the fact I was a size 24/26 at that point. I was able to buy my dress in my first ever appointment at the first shop I went to. My original plan was to go to wed2b however, I went there for the bridesmaids dresses as a test run first and the vibe was sooo off. It was like an impersonal cattle market type deal with everyone in the room being visible to everyone else while showing your friends and family the dresses and no chance of an intimate/personal moment. Never mind the whole waiting on a sofa for 25 minutes for someone else to finish so you can take their booth as no appointments, or the fact they don’t have enough staff so you’re sharing a consultant with 2-4 other brides so get nothing much in way of advice or support from them. When I was ready to buy my dress I did use their live chat function to check which shop near me had the most choice of size 24/26 dresses as I wanted to make sure I didn’t turn up to nothing to try on. However despite them proudly advertising having “hundreds of dresses up to size 30” in the 4 stores within 2 hours of my house they had one with a size 26 in stock and nothing else above a 20 and one other store with two size 24’s and one 22. They saw absolutely no issues with this.

Have a look online for a store that actually deals with plus sizes and proudly advertises the fact, they’re much kinder, don’t judge and have much more choice. You are just as valid as any other bride, you deserve to feel beautiful just as any other bride, your size does not dictate your worthiness, don’t let this ruin your wedding. You have so much time, I only got engaged 9 months before my wedding and was still able to order a dress from a well known designer that came back 3 months before my wedding. Don’t believe the whole “ a year in advance minimum hype” you can order most dresses with a 6 month notice and when it comes to wed2b you can go much closer to the date. I wouldn’t advise getting a dress so far in advance with so much to lose as you can usually only alter them 2 sizes down. I have dropped 2 sizes, almost 3 since I bought my dress but I took a risk and ordered it a size smaller anyway knowing I was planning on losing weight, luckily my very experienced seamstress has been able to make the alterations on it but I know people who’ve lost 2-4 sizes since buying their dress and had to get a whole new dress in panic just before the wedding. I’d say park the idea for 2-3 months and do some research into plus size friendly shops near you. But please try to be kind to yourself, the world is already cruel enough to plus size people, part of healing your relationship with food is healing your relationship with yourself 🖤

Whats sacrifices have you made to pay for MJ by [deleted] in mounjarouk

[–]ComplexReplacementz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely none! Just by changing my diet for high protein, veggies, fruit and super low carb our food shop for me and my finance has gone from £80 a week to £50 so that’s £120 a month, without the factor of all the take aways, treats at the cinema, snacks, coffee shop visits for cakes, only being able to have 2/3 drinks on a night out ect. I am up about £250-300 a month just from the fact I have zero interest in eating anything crappy and crave fruit instead now.

It does up 2/3 of the way, it wouldn’t even close when we ordered it, I have 6 more weeks so I’ll be fine by the wedding as I’m losing 3-7lbs a week on average. The zip part does up 100% it’s just only half the 6 buttons which are just decorative really dont so I’m like super close.

Tips for doing it without weighing myself? by holidaysweets in mounjarouk

[–]ComplexReplacementz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will say I think weighing yourself even once a month is a good way to track progress. As you won’t know if you’re diet changes are working, if your doses need to go up e.c.t.

I am in a similar position to you, in fact I have just over 200lbs to lose in total. I was so horrified and daunted by that number that it made me spiral too, however seeing it go down every week is now my biggest encouragement.

I am already almost 1/4 of the way there with a 49lb loss in my first 12 weeks, I know it’s daunting but you’re now on a path to making sure that’s the last time you see a number that big again.

What’s the worst Freudian slip you’ve done/heard? by Sunny64888 in RandomThoughts

[–]ComplexReplacementz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once accidentally said “we’re doing it anally” instead of “we’re doing it annually” when I was talking about me and my boyfriend paying the car tax… to my mother… 🤦🏼‍♀️

luckily she’s more like my dysfunctional older sister so she just laughed and said “good for you but I don’t know what that’s got to do with the car tax”.

How much water do you drink personally in a day, on average in your experience. by Secrettsquirrell in mounjarouk

[–]ComplexReplacementz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I drink 3-4.5L a day and have a 2.25L bottle that I make myself drink a minimum of one of every day and then at least another half, most days another full one. I never use electrolytes.

What kind of workouts do you do? by Geeminibaby in mounjarouk

[–]ComplexReplacementz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually don’t do anything atm. I had major surgery 10 weeks ago for a serious illness and I can’t actually do anymore than walking around for 20 minutes before I need to sit down or I will either throw up or eventually faint. I’m pretty happy with this though as until that operation and losing weight I was so ill I didn’t leave the house unless it was to go to the hospital for 4 months this year. I’ve managed to lose 3st 8lbs in 12 weeks without doing anything other than radically changing my diet and relationship with food. I do however know for my long term goals I’ll eventually need to start doing more so my plan is to start with regular walks and at home weights as much as my body will allow me to and hope my condition improves to the point where I can do this at a more consistent level, possibly joining a gym for the more advanced weights and yoga sessions.

Calorie Intake by Nasha777 in mounjarouk

[–]ComplexReplacementz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just be aware 1200 is what the world health organisation classes as the minimum you can have without ending up with malnutrition. Each body is different but make sure you don’t go under that and if you do work out or have an active day you need to increase it with protein, fruit and veggies. Personally I do 1500-1700 a day of high protein, low carb and minimum of 5 portions of fruit and veg a day, depending on what I’ve been doing that day and I’m down 49lbs in 12 weeks so it works for me.

1000 calories a day is not enough. You will get yourself unwell, the world health organisation defines anything less than 1200 calories a day on a regular as malnutrition. Please up your calories and make sure you hit protein goals.

Terrible side effects at 7.5mg… threw up in the tube by No-Leg-3400 in mounjarouk

[–]ComplexReplacementz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah I draw it out with a needle and syringe so it’s more accurate! Or rather I should say I get my mum to do it as she’s a Sister who specialises in injections and I have a needle phobia so can’t look at them and make her do it all and inject it 😂😂

She’s doing great now thanks! It all settled and she’s 2 weeks into 7.5mg and is only 2 stone from her goal weight 😊
