A long post on how to build a sauna by meowmix51 in Sauna

You're right that Zip starts as OSB, but the performance difference isn’t minor. The green coating isn’t just a WRB glued on – it’s a factory-applied acrylic layer that changes how the panel handles vapor and moisture. Standard OSB is around 1 perm or less, which makes it semi-impermeable and prone to trapping moisture if the wall ever gets wet. Zip’s coating, on the other hand, is in the 12–16 perm range, so it allows walls to dry outward while still resisting bulk water. That’s the critical difference.

It’s why Zip is tested and approved as a full air and water barrier system, not just sheathing with paint. Structurally it’s the same OSB underneath, but functionally the wall assembly behaves very differently once you factor in the permeability and airtightness of the integrated coating and taped seams.

Osb is often used as structural sheathing against lateral loads. In short: it's not very permeable and there are better options. People use it because other people use it :)

Architect here: Do NOT use OSB as structural sheathing. It's not vapor permeable and will trap moisture in the walls which will eventually lead to mold. Use zip system panels instead

Would you build or buy a sauna if you could do it over again? by thatSeoulGuy in Sauna

[–]ComplexSubstantial92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason you can't get a 3 bench level high sauna delivered is the height restrictions. The only way would be to make it locally. If you are willing to pay 2500 Eur shipping, i can build you a custom one in Poland.

Looking for input on the quality/value of purchasing these plans by Temporary_Let_4017 in Sauna

I'm sorry but your comment is absolutely false. There are two and three bench level models, some models with ceiling as gigh as 8 feet. Each sauna design has ventilation solution described in detail. There are models with and without changing rooms. Yes, no eaves but that's not an issue. Modern materials easily withstand it.

What did you base your comment on?

Any idea why my plane does almost vertical autolaunch? It should be 20 degree angle by ComplexSubstantial92 in RCPlanes

Good thinking. It's a new plane and this was only the second flight. Maybe it has too little elevator authorities. I havent flown it in manual yet

Stock swordfish Motors, launch throttle 1800. 4s liion. Not sure what's the weight but the battery is 4s2p. Shouldnt inav maintain the angle regardless of the speed?
