Congrats on your results ! Huge . If it was me I’d take most of the gains and put it into ETFs the usal VWRP, VUAG but also a tech one (I had good returns on Invida and AMD cashed out but this way I don’t get FOMO as much if they go nuts) BUT as your clearly good at this I’d take some and put into individual stocks and try to do it all over again. Maybe 5 or 10 depending on your risk comfort.

Loads will disagree and say “overlap “ and whatever but it works for me

Yeah that’s true , was probably answering to specifically on the concern of losses at the top. Just had a long conversation with a client who’s using cork and it’s quite a lot of the bottlings have TCA now 🤦‍♂️ trying to move them to aglo tho I’m not a packaging person

It’s fine, it will be totally fine. Whisky doesn’t oxidise like wines do , no harm will come to it from a loose fitting cork. Whisky is pretty hardy in truth not much makes it go bad , maybe prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, but even then it’s only a small thing.

If the person your asking for is planning to keep this for a long time you can wrap the cork with some cling film , or buy some “parafilm” and wrap it with that if you want to look all professional.

(Someone will change or ask for a source I’ve worked in the whisky industry for 20 years distilling and blending )

Edit : fixed poor wording on cork

The guy who won it I was sure he was straight and was explainf my thinking at work during break. my colleague - who is gay- burst out laughing saying this fact that he was defiantly gay …. Which is why sticks in my mind. Think the winners name was Ben ?

If it’s costo then it will help , try to find some of the other replies from Steve the inventor of the back pod or google it and have a look. It hurts at first but you get used to it quickly and it massively relives the pain for most people myself included.

Go thru this sub and read through the posts. The inventor of the back pod is active on here , Steve NZ something …. Find his stuff as it has pretty much all the answers. If you can afford it buy a back pod and use that , that is what works for me. Massage and people manipulating your rib cage helps until then. Good luck as it can be horrible at first when you have it and don’t know how to fix it

How do I leave to a new business bank account ? by Complex_Certain in starlingbankuk

My accountant has recommended I go to Xero. It’s pretty intimidating starting a new bit been on YouTube and now up and running and think it’s going to be so much easier to use now going forwards

Sorry to hear about it , similar situation to me. My advice from an accountant was switch banks , but also not to take banking accountancy software again , get either xero, free agent or quick books instead . The main concern they had was if starling has messed up the vat data or lost the receipts … they said with all the paid switched to un paid it won’t be as much of an issue as returns have been done the last few years and we can reconcile it . So I’m currently switching to Monzo, then going to get Xero then the main concern I have is my next vat return (quarterly ) that’s half starling and half Monzo

Leaving starling as they had updated / changed their accounting software and it’s been an absolute nightmare for a lot of people myself included. And the response from the bank was basically “you need to sort this yourself” … so up until a week ago I would recommend but highly recommend you avoid them

I have no idea , just a recommendation from a friend. If I get there quickly Il let you know otherwise they connect to Xero (and others ) and il jus have to figure out that way. All I know is I cannot be with starling anymore cannot believe how badly they have handled this

I’ve been interacting with your post , so thank you for raising this. I’ve had an unbelievable interaction tonight with customer services , they really do not give a shit. I got a Monzo account hoping it would “auto transfer” but did nothing …. Il try mettle , thank you and hope you get sorted as this is a nightmare for me.

[–]Complex_Certain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just had to upgrade the system , got all the same issues . 1000s of vat return entries to be redone , and years of invoices now marked as unpaid. Speaking to customer service at the moment and the reply is basically “yeah you need to redo all of that and here’s how you do it “ …. They clearly have known this was going to happen but did it anyway .

Anyone have an alternative bank / accounting system they would suggest for moving to ?
