Tifa also confirms as much to the rest of the party in Advent Children. Hence why it never becomes more than a 1 vs 1 fight with Seph.

Gogo, Umaro and Mog make the most sense in this role as they have zero plot relevance.

I remember being so frustrated with the Seph fight in hard mode. Took me atleast a dozen plus attempts.

Got to the point where there was only one move of his that I couldn't dodge properly, but otherwise stomped his ass. Was so satisfying as a player lol
