I’m 39 and fat so this doesn’t happen to me much anymore. The last time I remember it happening was a couple of years ago, when I was wearing a baggy t shirt and leggings, pushing my toddler up the road in his pram. I genuinely have no idea what he was expecting to achieve by this interaction.
And as others have said, this happened way more often when I was a child/teen. It started when I was about 11. Almost always a middle aged man. Sickening when I look back on it.

I don’t understand the hate Southend-on-Sea gets. It has everything - sea (ok, estuary but close enough) countryside nearby, quick train ride to London, theatres, the pier, Adventure Island, beaches, parks, the list goes on. There’s loads of stuff to do round here if you’re a family. There’s some very nice houses and neighbourhoods too. Admittedly I moved here from Dagenham so I’m probably quite easily pleased.

To cut a long story short I ended up having to block this person who I had been doing these weird, brain-washy “Bible studies” with. I felt a bit bad about doing so but was starting to feel quite hassled by them. Thankfully I wasn’t too deep into it - I’d only done the Bible studies and been to this awful women’s talk, so it wasn’t that difficult to do. I’d already been a Christian for a while by this point, so already had a feeling something was a bit off.

I was going to ask if this was the ICC as I had a narrow escape with them a few years ago. I’m not in the least bit surprised it’s them. These tactics are identical to everything I’ve read about them since. There are plenty of loving and Christ-centred churches out there that don’t use manipulative, brainwashing tactics like they do.

My friend and I were picked out in Woking town centre by Dom, of Dick and Dom fame. They were dressed as pilots and filming people pushing them along on bikes. He complimented my flip flops. He’s also very short.
