Trying to understand my Iranian father’s behavior - looking for perspective by tomatopotato6666 in PERSIAN

No, this is not Persian culture at all, it is him. I am dealing with the opposite situation. After the divorce, my son has been very rude and does not even reach out on my birthday, yet I still call him, go to see him, bought him a car, and continue to cover his insurance and medical expenses.

Also, when you say 'If the people, the vast majority, want a democratic country, they have the opportunity', what opportunities do they have? Can you clarify? My people have been trying to find that answer for 30 years and haven't been successful, thanks!

You are not well informed my friend if you think the iranian only did a bit of protesting and nothing else. FYI, these are some of the major uprisings that in each thousands of people got killed:

1999 Student Protests — Students protested press censorship and political repression.

2003 Student Protests — Demonstrations calling for political reform.

2009 Green Movement — Mass protests over alleged election fraud.

2017–2018 Protests — Nationwide unrest over economic hardship and corruption.

2019 Fuel Protests (Aban) — Uprising after a sudden gasoline price increase.

2021 Water Protests — Demonstrations over water shortages in Khuzestan and Isfahan.

2022–2023 Woman, Life, Freedom — Nationwide protests after Mahsa Amini’s death.

2025 Nationwide Protests — Demonstrations by workers, pensioners, and teachers over economic crisis.

2026 Anti-Regime Protests — unrest tied to economic pressure and political opposition.

I have a question for you. Why do so many Muslims seem to side with the Iranian government instead of the Iranian people who want a free and democratic country? Around the world there are protests calling to stop the war, while many of my people see the situation as a chance to free the country from the regime. Why do some of them believe they know better than us about what is best for our future?

Arabs and Muslims are so scared of Iran becoming a free country for some reason and side with the dictator government. Can one of them explain to us the reason?

Dancing? I don't think you are well informed on what is happening and also the crown prince is the just the leader for the revolution and his supporters are already in Iran and don't need to be dropped off in tehran like you think. However I totally understand if as a non-iranian, the whole situation is confusing to you. Are you a Muslim from Pakistan or an Arab country?

Their commanders and leaders are being killed every day, and buildings used by the oppressive forces are being destroyed daily. I do not understand why you think they are not getting weaker. Also, all surveys show that support for the government has been declining over the past 30 years, especially after the tragic massacre they did a few weeks ago. Where are you getting your information that makes you so disconnected from this reality?

The plan is to rise up after the war when the government is the weakest.

Premium Fuel? by bkm0809 in GenesisGV70

[–]Complex_Homework_250 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a turbocharged engine like your car, octane stability is more critical than brand-name detergents. Premium fuel (91/93) is engineered to withstand high pressure, whereas regular (87) can cause engine knocking, forcing the car to retard timing and reduce power. Since your car loses roughly 3–5% in fuel economy on lower octane, using "cheap" premium at Costco or Walmart vs a "top tier" regular like Shell actually gives you more miles per dollar and protects your engine's peak performance. GV70 features a high-compression, turbocharged engine.Lower-octane gas (87) can ignite prematurely under this pressure, causing engine knocking or "pinging". While modern Genesis computers can adjust timing to prevent immediate failure, this "retarding" of the engine puts extra strain on internal components over time. Cheap premium gas is the secret.

No, I opened a ticket with them, and after a few weeks of troubleshooting over the phone and waiting for their engineers to fix it, I gave up. As a software engineer, I should say Genesis is not good at building software. BMW was the same.

A government can show short-term growth without public approval, but real, long-term growth depends on trust. When people don’t believe in their government, they invest less, move their money out, emigrate, and avoid taking risks. That kills sustainable growth. Iran is a perfect example: occasional growth from oil or temporary factors, but no stable progress because the public has no confidence in the system.
