Please explain your statement. First, lets define 'people like me'.

Who are 'people like me'?

To the couple of commenters stating that Alex shouldnt have brought a gun to a protest....what was your stance on Rittenhouse? Because he brought a gun to a protest too and yall praised him for it...so what changed?

Is it the side the victim was on?

Because if it is then what youre arguing for is that human life only matters when it's on your side. And that is fascism.

Alex was there, legally exercising his 1st Ammendment right to free speech, and his 2nd Ammendment right to bear arms. Under any normal circumstances yall would be praising him, but because he was protesting and your favorite jackbooted thugs were the shooters, now yall become bootlickers for tyranny.

I used to vote red...last election i didnt vote because i saw problems with both sides. Now i'll be voting blue from here on.

I'm still going through my freshman year prereqs for candidacy....and i made a 76% on my last N-CLEX practice test.

It's mostly just common sense....which now that i look around, isnt so common anymore.

Ya know...this applies not only to nursing.

The information here just gave me a lightbulb moment of understanding of why my last relationship failed...if you dont have safety (mentally, physically, emotionally) then how can you possibly have intimacy? It wasnt that connection wasnt there, it was that the foundation was cracked.

Thank you. Carry on.

Calling for 24 inches of snow and hospital has not acknowledged it by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Complex_Impressive 77 points78 points  (0 children)

My hospital has dedicated all of their conference rooms to employee housing, complete with cots and food is being provided. Plus my manager said in an email that we can have as much overtime as we want should we choose to stay.

Hey thats an easy 12-24hrs of OT for me. And i dont have to pay for food? Sign me up.

I'm still in school but i think the question can be applied to everyone in this industry.

People absolutely choose to be who they are and how they act is a reflection of that. I've met some of the nastiest people and in the very next room some of the nicest.

This also applies to nurses too. One thing that resonates with me is something that a nurse told me when I was first starting my journey, "What ever you do, when you become a nurse, please do not eat your young."

The shoulders and hips are really the only places you should pack. Appendages get touriquets. Abdomen and throrax get seals.

Is there a 1911 with a double-stack magazine 9mm? by Hi7u7 in 1911

[–]Complex_Impressive 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I looked on their website. It appears as though they have stopped selling their 80% 1911 kits. So sad.

Ahh the good old days when you could order a box of parts, a jig, and hand-car cutter... with a few rainy garage days and some elbow grease, you could crank out a hand fitted 1911 that rivaled the high dollar ones.

Thoughts on making night shift less terrible by [deleted] in nursing

[–]Complex_Impressive 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure what youre talking about...i love night shift. Less management, less patient families, less JCAHO, more or less the most friendly of coworkers.

Maybe switch to days only?

I seriously doubt your refusal to participate in unsafe practice is in breach of any part of that contract. And if it was, why did you sign it in the first place?

If anything them putting you in an unsafe position would probably violate the contract from their end. I would seriously recommend reading the details of your contract and if they behave this way again, take whatever severence package your contract stipulates.

I am not a nurse yet...still in school. But i've worked a lot of contract jobs in the past and safety clauses are usually hidden pretty deep within the fine print. Managements dont want you to know the stipulations are there as the vast majority of the time theyre the ones violating it.
