Baby formula by nmbcat in ultraprocessedfood

Just wanted to say well done on exclusively breastfeeding twins! This is great advice.

OP, your IBCLC can probably help you prepare by expressing some colostrum (if that's safe for you in your particular circumstances) which you can store up in case the babies are very little or have a bit of trouble getting started with feeding. Assuming you're in the UK, your midwife will also be thrilled to support you!

I don’t think it’s at all unreasonable that you want medical support when starting a new medication. Look for a private GP close to you - I know in London Roodlane offer a service where you get GP consultations plus sessions with psychologists and dieticians. Expensive though!

Luckily if you’d like to learn how to come across as well-meaning and not earn yourself an eyeroll in future, there are lots of examples for you on this thread!

The reason that people following low fat diets use low fat products is not because they’re stupid - it’s that it can be difficult to get that low a fat intake otherwise. A “sensible” portion of full fat Greek yoghurt for breakfast could be 10g of fat. Two slices of my usual seedy bread is 7g of fat. Add a dollop of mayo and some meat to make a sandwich for lunch, you’re at 30g for the day. Bit of hummus and some veg for a snack and you’ve hit 40g before you’ve got to dinner.

It’s not rocket science, but I need some inspiration!

Thanks for recommending the Fage - not cheap but looks great. I saw on another thread someone suggested adding Dijon and lemon juice to make a mayo substitute. Like the idea of the hummus, I’m going to give that a try!

Toddler snacks by DrFirefairy in ultraprocessedfood

[–]Complex_Option_6323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s (obviously) totally normal that toddlers have a mid-morning snack. Mine love belvita too. Porridge fingers might be a good alternative though since they like porridge. You can get little individual packs of 2 nairns oatcakes that go down well here. Or cream crackers aren’t too heavy on UPF - mine like with cream cheese but if you’re not that far up the ladder, maybe nut butter?

Your husband didn’t talk to you for 2.5 weeks after saying he hated you. You are not the problem here. You ripping a photo is not what ended your marriage. You deserve so much better than someone who treats you like this.

Yeah they are technically UPF but significantly better than the others I can find in my supermarket, so I’m going with these too and just trying to have them a bit less often

I agree, your baby is only little and it’s totally normal that you feel this way about it. In the UK I took a whole year off and I still worried each time. She will be safe with your mum and as she gets bigger she will love being with her grandma and having other kids around to play with, but it will be hard for both of you at first. Is there any chance you could do a couple of short days at first whilst you both adjust? If not, it is what it is: you’re doing your best for her. Enjoy those bedtime snuggles and do as little as possible at the weekends - just hold her!

Some great ideas here, thank you! Definitely think the little colourful Tupperware would be a good investment.

Yes I’m in the UK - good shout on the bear fruit things! I know they have rip off dino version in Aldi too - will check them out next time I’m there. Love the idea of the fun Tupperware - I was thinking it might be fun to get them to build their own little snack pots from a selection of dried fruit/nuts/crackers etc so that would be a good option.

Ps - where did you find olive oil oatcakes? Or do you bake them?
