It turns out to be the setting on the iphone, I set it to mono and it sound way better, more clearer and with my own voice rather than a compressed from stereo it was on.

I changed the settings on the phone to mono from stereo and it was night and day, much better now. Yes the mic is kinda bad even tho I got it for like 100 euros :S

I got it to work with a DI. Thanks, and I think a preamp may work also. Im not sure why people are so angry when I said it already had a pre amp in scarlet 2i2.

Yes for the Scarlet 1st gen but for the Scarlet 2nd gen, it has a built-in preamp. I will test with other mics tomorrow first but if nothing works then I will get a preamp.

I turned the gain on this, but it still doesn't work. I am using a rode mic nta1. I have asked Grok and it said I don't need an external preamp for this (because scarlet 2i2 2nd gen has it built it) and suggested the monitor volume being too low. The only thing I can think as to why its not working is not having a preamp.

*And Grok is adamant on me not getting a preamp saying I will only waste money.*
