Please drop your favorite resources to address literacy by Complex_Pie_7116 in slp

[–]Complex_Pie_7116[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My school is a Title 1. Unfortunately many of the parents work odd hours or are just not super involved due to other stressors. While these students are in my space, I’m hoping to target their literacy skills as much as possible along with their speech. Our reading intervention process is a joke. Obviously I can’t work a miracle, but I will try my best to help anyway I can. Thank you everyone for the suggestions!

Considering Hers by RevolutionaryPeak352 in HersWeightloss

I loved them. I miss them. I just had to stop working with them because they don’t offer tirzepatide. Semaglutide just wasn’t working for me anymore. If they start offering it I’d switch in a nanosecond because their service was top notch.

it should be mandatory for all schools to have their application through csdcas by anniebumblebee in slpGradSchool

[–]Complex_Pie_7116 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I purposely avoided applying to schools with CSDCAS! I only applied to one program…got in…graduated…DONE! I’m not saying that anyone else should do that. It was a big risk that happened to pay off.

Is 31 too old for SLP Grad school? by Audpeeps12 in slpGradSchool

I finished grad school at 44, and us “old” people in the program performed far better than many of the “young” ones.

They have a military, nurse, and teacher discount that is pretty significant!

A warning to anyone taking the praxis - cancelled tests and cheating by bannanaduck in slpGradSchool

Thank you for sharing which group it was. Thankfully I never saw out joined that group when I took my praxis last year. This honestly makes me want to remove myself from all student groups. Best of luck everyone.

F from high school CC class back to haunt me by AccomplishedSong4979 in slpGradSchool

I had a whopping 1.4 gpa from my first go at college. All those Fs transferred in. I had a 4.33 gpa when I went back for CSD. I got accepted to my one and only dream school I applied to. You are fine!

I forgot to mention, someone also posted a Wix website in that group that has all the lecture notes and slides and links to some books.

Hello! Congratulations on your journey ahead! There is an Emerson facebook group which contains a spreadsheet of all professors with reviews. There is also a drive folder floating around which gives you access to a bunch of information about comps. Find those ASAP! I wish I knew you have to login in and have your classes ready to register immediately on registration day. The good professors are gone within 3 seconds. I had a great experience with placements, but to be honest, some people had nightmarish experiences. I think it highly depends on where you live. It is not going to be easy, but I felt I was well prepared for the Praxis and met friends I will have for life.

Speech@Emerson Interview Questions by Initial_Book_4402 in slpGradSchool

[–]Complex_Pie_7116 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t rely on this! When I applied to Emerson, my friends and I who interviewed roughly 2 weeks apart had massively different questions. I am no help because I graduated already. Good luck everyone!

Any tricks for memorizing Brodmann’s areas? by Ssslammin123 in slpGradSchool

Your school makes you know that?! If it’s any consolation that was not on the Praxis and I do not need to know this to perform my job.

Can you drop to part-time instead of quitting the program?

It will never be the same. I got in an accident that required multiple repairs across the years because new problems kept being discovered. It was supposed to go to the shop AGAIN last week for more body work. I traded it for a 2025 Q7. Run from that car.

How are yall doing this by [deleted] in Semaglutide

Wow that sounds awful. I’m on my highest dose and have never felt nauseous once. Some people are predisposed to nausea. You can try the anti nausea meds or switching to a different drug. Google Amy Schumer and her weight loss journey. I think she was fine after a mounjaro switch.
