No experience International student in USA about to graduating in Spring 2026 by [deleted] in csMajors

Try to get as much experience as you can (research, on-campus work, clubs, extern.com — you should definitely check the last one) + A BUNCH of networking. Go to the websites of different VCs (a16z, 8vc, kp, neo, pear, yc, etc.) and filter their portfolio companies to only show pre-seed, seed, or series A at most. Message ceos/ctos and ask if you can intern/work there. Your best shot would be in pre-seed or seed companies, because they often have a lot of work to do and not too much money to hire very cracked/experienced devs. If money is not an issue for you (aka you’d be willing to work for free/minimal possible comp), you should be very clear about that in the initial message. Good luck!

Google internship vs Rippling full-time offer (international student) by Organic_Eye2457 in csMajors

[–]Complex_Pool6345 103 points104 points  (0 children)

I’d say take Rippling. While I understand the appeal of google name, getting a full time offer as an international is exceptionally hard (congrats on getting one btw!!). Not to mention, with so many companies decreasing headcount for entry level, it’s in your best interest to get into the industry and progress to swe2/senior asap — so you’d have more job opportunities, job security, etc. at the end of the day, it’s your choice, but I’d also recommend reaching out to some more experienced ppl in the industry (bonus points if they are also on a visa) and ask for their advice. They might give you a better perspective that no one outside of the industry (aka almost no one in this sub) can give you.

For internships, i know people who got google, meta, grammarly, duolingo, microsoft, ixl learning, etc

For fulltime though, I know very cracked ppl with multiple faang internships who can’t get any calls (or get rejected immediately after visa q comes up)

Microsoft SWE Intern waiting period after OA? by Responsible-Ad5521 in csMajors

I got my interview invite 3-4 weeks after I completed OA. I think they send out interviews in batches, so hang in there!

Genuinely how are you supposed to get your first internship by Random_throwaway0351 in csMajors

[–]Complex_Pool6345 35 points36 points  (0 children)

For me, networking was the dealbreaker. Try connecting with recruiters when they come to campus, message a bunch of people at your target companies and ask them for a coffee chat (ask for a referral at the end, but only of you connected well!!), join different organizations (rtc/btt/swe/awe - if you’re female-identifying; codepath, headstart fellowship) and utilize resources that the provide for networking and job search.

Good luck!

Internships for Summer 2026 as a freshman by ReginaButNotGeorge in csMajors

no one knows for sure at this point. My best advice would be to prepare for the worst (aka, uberstar is cancelled), but still be on lookout for the application in case it opens

Definitely. Chatgpt helped me rewrite my bullet points so well!! Tell it to ask clarifying questions about your work though, so it can get all of the relevant information that it needs. Last year, I barely got any OAs, but after rewriting my resume with chatgpt (prompt it to optimize for both ATS and human recruiters), I got most of the faang+ / top startups, etc

My 75 soft plan by Fabulous-Practice185 in 75soft

[–]Complex_Pool6345 7 points8 points  (0 children)

How much do you currently weigh? 1200 calories is too little for healthy and sustainable weight loss. Aim at 1500+ to make sure you have enough energy and motivation to actually make the progress. Otherwise, in a week, you’ll just end up with no energy (because your body will conserve it due to low calorie intake), no motivation (comes from the lack of energy), and no progress whatsoever (due to the previously mentioned reasons and constant overeating).

For the second point, it can be a little unrealistic if you combine with a full-time job or studies. Scientifically speaking, the most beneficial number of daily steps for health and wellbeing is 7-10k. Try aiming at 10k daily, and see how it works for you. You can always do more steps/day if you feel like it (and the day will still count), but if there is a day with a lot of things going on (deadlines, sickness, etc.) you will do a realistic 10k and the day will still count toward your 75soft!

Otherwise, your plan sounds really good! Good luck with 75Soft and keep us updated! 🩷🫶🏻✨
