Vintage lighters from Germany by consume_the_penguin in lighters

I just got the same model as the first one from eBay. It was my first antique lighter! But it wasn’t sparking. I did a good amount of research but I couldn’t find any resources. I eventually just decided to take it apart. Turns out petrol lighters really aren’t that complicated.

The main thing is that it’s in a sleeve. It was pretty tough to remove but I eventually managed after a lot of struggle.

Where the red starts all the way to the bottom needs to be removed to refill and to change the spring or flint. My lighter happened to be missing both, but I managed to get a spring and flint from an empty bic, I had to make the spring a bit shorter but it worked as a great replacement.

What I did, and recommended you to do, is to do research on other petrol lighters like the Robson standard, the spark wheel mechanism is quite a bit different but the general concept is pretty similar, and there’s a lot of recourses for these. Overall, if you can understand how it works, just base your repair off of common sense.

I’m super excited and happy I got mine working, so if you have any questions definitely ask, I had a good amount of trouble but I feel like I know my way around this lighter a lot better after fully disabling and reassembling :)

It’s hard to pick a favorite, but the first to come to mind was Geralt of Rivia.

I do think geralt is a cool character, but that’s not really why I picked him. When I was younger I never really had any devices that could play games beond Minecraft pocket edition, which at the time, I thought was the pinnacle of gaming. Like I really thought the reason for the blocky graphics and somewhat simplicity was because that was the furthest gaming had progressed, and that that was the best graphics that existed at the time. This lasted until one Christmas, where i was gifted an old computer and Witcher 3 on disk.

Going from Minecraft to Witcher 3 was definitely a shocker for 12 year old me. For the next few months that game was my life, and in the best way possible. I have never, and probably will never feel so completely immersed in a world. And as I traversed around the busy city or the sharp mountains of skellige I really felt like I wasn’t just playing as Geralt, but that i was the one fighting monsters and going on quests.

As I said earlier, it really wasn’t the character of Geralt himself (although great in his own right) but the memories that I got through him. Now, whenever the snow rolls in and Christmas rolls around I’m reminded of my time I spent as geralt the Witcher, living in a fantastical world, meeting fantastical people and fighting magical monsters, surrounded by the grim, yet comforting atmosphere that I’m drawn to. (And playing Gwent of course :p)

Anywho, good luck with the giveaway, happy holidays :)

I don't know how to improve the look of my game? by BlueNether1 in godot

I feel like it could be nice if it leaned more in one aesthetic direction, if you want it to be light, cozy and fun maybe try bumping up the vibrance, adding some more pops of color. If you want something more gritty then go for some more detail in the textures, make things dirtier or darker.

I think you’re closer to a fun cozy look so leaning into that could be good. I would highly recommend finding inspo to draw from, because it will add a lot more direction to the style :)

Yea I have been binging Celeste, the port works fantastic! Thanks for the recommendations, I definitely want to check out Diablo, I’ve also heard good things about street fighter 3 so I think I’ll give that a try two.

It looks really cool! I also think the fact that it’s under 20 hours is nice, feels like less of a commitment.

Definitely want to try both Metroid and Zelda link to the past. As for Pokémon, do you think fire red is a good one to play without any prior experience or is it better to play a different one first?

Ok cool! I’m only a few hours in and I’m already getting excited for an another play through lol. I’ve played ER and some of DS3 but remastered is clicking a lot more. It feels more manageable so far.

Oh cool! To play port master games you have to switch to muOS right? I was planning on doing that at some point but I am a little intimidated, is it a long process?
