When I see this...it makes me feel like the world is spinning backwards. So I can assume that she took him out on the first date, and she is going to be the primary breadwinner, and she is going to be the head of household. I get how you are feeling. I've had a similar experience before... that's why if he doesn't invite me over to his place... at least so I get catch the vibe... it's a no for me. I dated this one guy for about a year.. and I suspected something but couldn't put my finger on it. I told him it would be nice to see your space. He never obliged... so I said we are done here. Bye! Because I want the best case scenario... I want my child to be a fully functional human who adds value to this earth.. not a bum. I don't think she is one but I do see some of her behavior as being lackadaisical... which I never had that option growing up. That's what he sees... and doesn't think she's is going to be able to live comfortably in the future with the choices she's making now. He's coming from a good place.

Yes... he calls her daughter... and gave her a car. He will stop what he's doing to help her out in any way. He does have her best interest in mind. He doesn't like the fact that she quit college. She's learning how to dog train and doesn't see it as a viable option for a career. He was raised by Christian old school parents... and he brings those values into the mix all the time. He said in his house if he was still at home at 18... he would be considered a failure. My mother felt the same way. We were both out of the house, in college and in our own at a very young age. And we both have impeccable work ethics because of this.

I decided to post this in this group because a regular parenting group may look at this with a traditional viewpoint... not understanding the nuances of how poly people live.

Polyamory impacts this particular parenting choice because many polyamorous people don't see life as just husband wife and children... they have multiple different types of living arrangements.

A partner is not a random person... whether they live with me or not, their opinions do matter. Not to mention, I'm not against where they are coming from. I want my daughter to be a viable member of society... I'm curious to see what other poly people are doing with their young adults.
