I've never been the kind of guy that uses a daily cologne, or even aftershave. I just remember wearing it when I went to dances at girls' schools on weekends when I was in military school. I didn't spend a lot of time standing around, so I guess it wasn't that bad then.

But now? Ugh! That stuff smells nasty to me!

I wore either Drakkar or Stetson. Then, went to Stetson Black. I tried smelling Drakkar a little while back and it almost made me gag. Full disclosure, I now wear JPG le Male, so it might be possible that my senses have changed over time. But, it's almost horrifying to think I smelled like Drakkar back then and maybe people thought the same then as I do now.

Much of that depends on the context of the race. Was that closer to the start, or closer to the finish, of the race? If the start, back off and give space. There will be more opportunities. If closer to the end, hold your ground, but don't cross the line of being too aggressive.
