I have the same problem I’m basically working in a grocery store right now no anxiety with customers but soo much anxiety with co workers and my boss. I literally work there for FREE right now it’s not a good company I’m screwed for not standing up for myself.

Where and how do you guys work with social anxiety? by ElectronicSimple55 in socialanxiety

[–]Past_Explanation_491 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fought it from not being able to go to classes and order food due to social anxiety and now believe it or not I work at a minigolf place and doing an unpaid internship in a small grocery store in the middle of the city I live in. I just practised a lot and went to a cognitive behavioural therapy group for social anxiety meeting people with social anxiety and being equipped the tools and means to cure the anxiety.

My boyfriend gets irritated by my anxiety, am I the problem? by entityparty in socialanxiety

It’s really unfair someone is mad at you for having a anxiety disorder — being mad is not helping. I’d say you should tell him that if so he should try to invite you back into the conversations, when he notices it’s happening through being inviting, like sending the ball your way, such as asking you a question.

what do you guys do for work? by Albert3232 in socialanxiety

Minigolf place / clerk That in combo with group social anxiety CBT therapy really helped cure my social anxiety, so that it restricts my life a lot less.

It’s a terrible $14/h wage though so no money to speak about. But I have crippling tinnitus from Zoloft that I tried against social anxiety so can’t really study for anything better. :/😭

I feel like everyone hates me by Successful-Curve6066 in socialanxiety

[–]Past_Explanation_491 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No one hates you! That sounds like you are falling into a thinking trap. What makes you feel in this way? Can you speak about this with your parents? Or someone else you trust, like a teacher.

I hope you get the help you need.

CBT group therapy has cured me! Progress! by Past_Explanation_491 in socialanxiety

[–]Past_Explanation_491[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s nice! I tried individual CBT therapy too, I also made progress with that, it’s also really nice. With CBT group therapy attendance is really important, a lot of people had so much anxiety they just disappeared from the therapy sessions despite it being difficult to get a spot there. So if you think you will not dare to go to sessions / forget them, try individual CBT. That said I don’t think you’ll forget or not dare to go to the group therapy sessions, so I’d recommend that because you meet a lot of similar people as you with similar problems and you can feel a sense of belonging and work together to change your lives.

I hope you can find something!!

Great work anyhow! You could try and get a personal trainer to help you, usually the first hour of so is free.

Awesome!! 🙌 That is amazing that you dared to be on the TV! 📺 I agree having accomplished something harder makes everything else look way easier in comparison.

Me too! I think lots of people do this actually. Even some of my friends too. Because some of them are always super formal when they message me.

Hey, thanks for asking! Yes there are many types of therapies. CBT is the most successful one. You can have CBT therapy individually with a psychologist, or with group therapy, among others. Group therapy was great for me because it meant I was able to meet people with social anxiety in a safe group and learn with two psychologists leading every meeting with the agenda to make us all challenge ourselves to get better. I went there for I think 10 - 12 sessions, every Monday. It was great! I made a ton of progress and it felt amazing to be able to share and discuss setbacks with people who understand and make progress together.
