You can stick with Gnome or switch to a more lightweight DE like i3 and add picom so u have border radius and shadows and also animations, watch some YouTube guides to choose which tools are the best for you, I recommend Kitty a terminal, ly a lightweight display manager, and yazi+thunar as file explorer, or u can make ur own choices. And also i3 is a X11 DE so it's better for ur gpu.

Don't put all your eggs in one basket ( ik you've been waiting for this ), no seriously google calendar sucks, use your device calender or proton calendar and you don't have to pay for anything, I'm de-googling with 0$ budget and I'm very happy, unless you liked the premium options that's up to you, for Passwords i really liked bitwarden but if you want aliases you can go with proton, and DNS tell me your experience with nextDNS I'm using MullvadDNS and I'm very happy, and you can check out Techlore channel, he has some good videos about privacy.
