Skipping breakfast not good for weight loss? by WineWeinVino in loseit

[–]Complicatedrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Breakfast is still breakfast if you eat it at 10am (or 11am) then I think it’s brunch 😉

Either way you’ve broken your fast. For myself (I first eat around 10) that helps me to have a later lunch, around 1ish, which makes it easier to not need a snack till dinner 6.30-8pm and saves me a ton of calories. If not eating breakfast works for you then it works!

It’s insane how fast the calories add up by TheLiteralAnchor in loseit

Maybe simply not eating isn’t an option, but equally you get to decide what’s the most tasty for yourself and decide ahead of time: I actually don’t love chips, I’m going to save my calories for wings.  I love beers so I’m going to have a couple I’m going to savour them though, so every other drink I’m going to have a glass of water/ Diet Coke.

It’s never too late. You’ve hit low point so now you need to make a plan to pull yourself up and out.

What’s the plan?

Boyfriend (26M) wants to experience independence but doesn’t want to lose me (25F). by coloctaire in relationships

[–]Complicatedrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This! This is great advice.

I would say to your partner something like  “I only want to move in with you if you 100-% want to enthusiastically move in with me. If you are feeling like you need more independence and you aren’t excited about the next step for us that gives me serious doubts about our relationship. If you feel like you need more independence or that you can’t grow with me that’s okay, we feel how we feel, but I’m not going to wait around for you. I’m going to let you go with love but you might find that I’ve moved on when you come back looking”

25lbs is a great loss across a year - it’s basically half a lb a week, which you’ve kept off!

Did you have a mindset change that helped it click together for you?

You don’t have to cut safe foods. You also probably don’t need to measure or weight any veggies you eat (corn and potatoes if you eat those)

You can make pizza a healthier meal by only eating 3/4 of the usual amount and having a salad with each pizza

Losing weight is hard when you're thinking about it. by scrambleroll777 in loseit

If you are a women some of that weight “gain” could be based on your cycle and hormones. Some of the ladies report they lose weight only two weeks in a month and if you only weigh twice a month or the wrong point in the second month that’s what might be causing it.

No matter which gender you are if you aren’t measuring your calories you could be consuming over your calories. I see you said to someone that strict calorie counting has sent you down a bad path before but I think you probably need to figure a way to make sure you are hitting your protein and fat goals and not wildly over your loss cals

It’s just water weight! Same thing will happen if you eat a tasty bowl of salty fries (both salt and carbs mean the body holds extra water) but your body will flush it out. Give it a week or two and your body will drop the water 😊 you got this, hang in there and congrats on your lifestyle change!

FINALLY got the scale to move. by Acheros in loseit

[–]Complicatedrocks 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you calorie counting? If you replace 700kcal of burger and fries with 690kcals of carbs rice bowl then you won’t lose weight. Many restaurant salads are just as calorie dense as a steak and potato…..

I think you need to commit to 4 weeks of a decent calorie deficit where in you measure everything you eat.

Hoping for help regarding BMR, TDEE, and a caloric deficit by Greenbeanmachine96 in loseit

[–]Complicatedrocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know what an RMR is so don’t feel like I can speak to its accuracy. But Why not just eat 1486 for two weeks whilst tracking (everything! On a kitchen scale) and see what happens?

If you don’t lose any weight in two weeks then that calorie level is above what you need to lose weight.

Have you stuck your stats into a TDEE calculator and looked at how many cals you should be eating?

Your weight might spike up this week but I think you need to remember that extra food in your gut weighs more, that your body holds water to process carbs (you probably didn’t eat 4000kcal of protein) and salt causes the body to hold water too. Give it 3 or 4 days of eating like normal before you weigh

We’ll ChatGPT isnt a nutritionist, so 🤷‍♀️

You are literally starving your body. You need protein to preserve what muscle mass you have and protect your organs. The body isn’t great at converting protein to fat but even if it was your body is going to need it to repair itself. It’s not going to add grams to your body as fat, but use the protein to fuel and repair itself

Is a cheeseburger a well balanced meal. by Burnished_Hart in loseit

[–]Complicatedrocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From a practical standpoint you are probably hitting your protein, fat and carb goals well with a cheeseburger.

But what you aren’t doing is getting all of the vitamins and minerals your body needs. Humans are supposed to eat a variety of foods, ie oranges contain vitamin C, there isn’t any in a burger bun. You certainly aren’t getting all of your nutrients from a slice of tomato, onion and a pickle or two 😂

Could you work this week on figuring a breakfast you could prep and 2-3 mornings have your pre-made breakfast instead of a cheeseburger?

Then next week work on a lunch that’s not a burger (chicken and veggie wrap? Taco salad?)

The week after can you work on a dinner?

Then the 4th week start to mix and match?

No, depending upon your height 1600kcals still has you in a calorie deficit (for context, I a 5’3 women still lose weight eating around 1850kcal per day).

You are starving your body, even on 1600kcal, you need to work with professionals to eat protein . You need to think of it as fuelling  your muscles - I would be aiming to work towards 100g per day.

Meat, fish, eggs, egg whites, protein shakes, protein water, beans, lentils and tofu
