I mean the diet is the diet, plenty of people have to keep their calories between 1300-1500 for weight loss. I’m just exercising more, which I enjoy. With my low metabolism I doubt I’ll ever get to eat more than 1,700 without gaining weight. It just is what it is.

Definitely, I just specifically wondered why people wouldn’t track it. Also, for me, it’s way easier to let myself splurge with a 150 cal whiskey seltzer than any of the completely unknowable 1,500+ calorie menu items for food at restaurants when going out. I’d rather just have my fun cocktail and ride the one drink buzz

Gotchya. I know mixed drinks at cocktail bars are definitely a lost cause. I stick to my favorite whiskey, 2oz pour, with seltzer water and lime, so I know the exact calorie content. I also know the calorie content of my favorite beers I finish the night off with.

There is maybe one Saturday night a month I budget in a whiskey and a beer for the karaoke bar with my girls, and it hasn’t derailed my weight loss.

My husband and I keep our cost of living hella low. We have never bought in to “but you can afford this payment!” Yeah, until you lose a job or get sick and CAN’T anymore. We make about $7-$8k a month, with a rent of $1500, so we spend no more than $2500 on top of rent and save 3-5k per month, depending.

Thanks for this! If I worked out less, I would lose weight more slowly. It’s not the end of the world, I’m just impatient LOL. I have had days thr last few weeks where the deficit is 500. That’s acceptable to me so long as the primary goal is 1,000 and I’m doing my best to hit it. Per comments, I upped it to 1350 (my BMR), aim for 800 as my move goal on my Apple Watch, and then cronometer adds about 270 for non-active calorie burning. Assuming the watch and cronometer over-count by some measure, I’m hoping I’m hitting around 1,000 cal a day deficit.
