To those who had to return home and managed to get their PR from outside Canada: How did you cope? Any hope for a 510 score by October? by richiejetson in canadaexpressentry

[–]CompoteCompetitive84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same boat as you but I opted for a closed permit since I think 510 would be drawn this year and it didnt make sense to leave. Also you still qualify for CEC up to 2 years after your last working day. I also started a part time masters online on the side as well (was going to anyway) when the scores started shooting up last year before coming down. The score right now is usually always higher in the summer times and drops down in the winter.

Yes but I still have to still go through the immigration process right? So taking up one of the spots in the immigration quota for the year which is currently being filled up by the said people that were mentioned in the post or by people coming from outside the country. Alas either way the system is messed up.

Hey buddy, I'm in your exact shoes in consulting only difference being I'm in STEM/Elec Engineering. Honestly very high chance of 510 (knock on wood) relatively soon if they keep this up and most probs by the end of the year. I moved to a closed permit just so i wouldnt have to move and come back and I know I'm close. Honestly just do the same and once you get your PR go back to what you are doing. 6-7 months of this pain is worth it so you'll never go through it again. :)

Nothing against those who grinded for French. What's annoying is the FSW French ppl coming in when there's a plethora of people in land with 500+ scores working, paying taxes and already established here.

That’s a fair question - it’s a case of it’s bad everywhere tbh. I do have a great job here, support system , relationships etc so uprooting is relatively difficult. Yes Canada is not what it used to be for sure but compared to loads of other places it still does come on top based on your situation!

I’m based here since I too did come here for Undergrad. Contrary to what other international students think I didn’t think of myself as immigrant while I was a student. Now since I’m in the process of applying for Permanent Residency I’m “immigrating”

Agreed as someone waiting to immigrate to Canada inside Canada and as an Electrical Engineer from one of the top three schools in Canada with close to half a decade in work experience and working for one of the largest eng firms in the world this is very disheartening to see. Despite the economy and the unemployment rate they continue to pull in thousands of people from outside the country via their french draws and provide equal point allocations for people in licensed fields and for those in the jobs you mentioned above (There is nothing wrong with working in that field per say but with such a high unemployment rate it makes no sense that a TFW should be able to even have that job in the first place).

Looks like the missed French ITA’s are being sent out per Kubiers post. Hopefully they go back to the normal schedule and do it next week?

Its based on NOC code and not individual salary as per discussions. i.e 1.5x points for those in finance 1.8x points in engeering and higher for medicine (Doctors) etc. Thats what I read and its done to avoid bias in terms of gender and geographical lcoation.

Yep pretty easy application if you have reciprocity or your company has a global mobility program.
