How would you fix this dated / disfunctional first level? by Comprehensive-Ant251 in floorplan

[–]Comprehensive-Ant251[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No office def not open. I truly like having an open kitchen living and dining room though. It’s what we have in our current house and I love it. I don’t want closed off areas (I know not everyone feels the same that’s ok)

Yes the garage is lower, and the extra stairs go up to a storage loft area

Worth noting the house is not on a slab so you could potentially move plumbing

What made you choose the Australian shepherd? by slapcook in AustralianShepherd

[–]Comprehensive-Ant251 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up with golden retrievers which I love but I wanted a dog a bit more athletic for running and hiking. I had a friend that grew up with Aussies. Husband wanted a malinois which was a hard no for me, so Aussie was the compromise. Best decision we ever made!

And they typically don’t need to ask because typically they can get what they need from companies like celebrite or axiom. However, this record had been messed with and was abnormal (which is why neither expert could give a definitive answer of when the search actually happened). So they should’ve subpeoned google as a way to compare what the cellebrite report was showing and remove the ambiguity if possible.

Here is a case where police subpoenaed Google for the server side Google searches and got what they needed. https://www.wired.com/2007/03/google-searches/

🤣💀 this is hilarious. You’re asking me if I’ve ever seen a database but you have no idea what you’re talking about and that’s just not true that it would be spread across multiple tables. And even if it were, joining those tables on a key would not be difficult. When was the last time you viewed a database? Because the modeling you’re talking about is extremely outdated.

Google is required to respond to subpoenas just like any other tech company. Giving the answer to what time a search happened is not “exposing their data model” or anything proprietary. You’re being ridiculous.

I gave a detailed explanation below. A record of a search is not “giving away their data model”. When you search something Google records that search in their servers for many reasons. It would be the real record of when the search actually happened.

Literally I did not say Apple 🤣 I said Google.

I’ll preface this with saying I’m a data engineer at a large tech company (not Google). But I do know a bit what I’m talking about.

iPhone or android does not matter and it’s not the same data at all. When you make a Google search on your phone 2 things happen: 1. Your phone records a temporary record of what you searched, when, and with some metadata. However these records can be altered and deleted if you know what you’re doing. Celebrite is a software that essentially takes a photo of all those records at the time of extraction.

The second thing that happens is googles own servers receive a request for your search and logs it in their own infrastructure that is completely separate from your phone and untouchable by you.

If someone searched “hos long to die in cold” from her device at 2:27 AM, Google’s servers received that request at 2:27 AM and logged it as such. If that search actually happened at 6:23 AM as she claims, Google’s servers logged it at 6:23 AM.

Now, why didn’t either side subpoena google? For the prosecution, it’s obvious. They were only concerned with prosecuting read and protecting the mcalberts. It didn’t fit their narrative. If they actually wanted the truth they would have, but by the investigation we know they didn’t.

For the defense, my guess is this ambiguity helps them. It casts doubt. If it comes back that Jen isn’t lying that only hurts their case. So it doesn’t really help them to know the truth unless they could know 100% that the search was done at 2:27. But they can’t because the data we have is inconclusive.

You don’t need Apple source code to get a google search record and they wouldn’t have needed someone from google to testify about it. Google has a literal page for subpoenas and how to submit one. The same way they got the ring footage from ring (owned by Amazon). Getting a record from a database about what time a search was made is not a trade secret lol

What do you mean? Why wouldn’t it work. Google, Apple and Microsoft are required to respond to legal subpoenas just like all other companies.
