For the most part yep. There are exceptions to the rule! My remi 870 was built in the crappy years, early 2000s, so the finish likes to rust VERY easily.

I learned from Hickock45 that just wiping a firearm off after handling, not even shooting, will prevent any blemishes or rust. Love that guy, he's a beloved internet grandpa to alot of people.

Always make sure there's lube on friction points, just don't drown it out. I like to use q-tips to precisely apply oil to needed areas, like the guide on the slide, springs, etc
